Conference rematch. Last game, FC had its 7-20 at the half. We'll see what happens this time...

FC receives the opening kick, but after forcing a three and out, SWE marches 70 yards down the field, ending with a 13 yard Marcus Williams td. 7-0.

FC plays keep away, being methodical and slow on offense. End of first. 7-0.

SWE returns kick to FC 28. 4 yard run, then play action pass for 22 yard td. SWE 14 FC 3

SWE 75 yard td run by Williams. Called back, holding. 3 plays later, Williams busts free for 60 yard td. 21-3 SWE.

Had to leave up 35-3 beginning of 4th. Nephew suffers what appears to be a torn MCL. Laid out on fitted ten minutes. Got him, told me he heard it pop, tears in his eyes. Hoping it's just a dislocation, but where he said it hurts...MCL. Sorry I couldn't finish the report. At ER now.

X rays were negative. No bone damage, which I was actually hoping for. I think that would have been better than what the other problem could be. Having an MRI Monday. What really bothers me was seeing how much pain my man was in, both physically and mentally. He is a tough, ripped little booger, but to see him crying coming off the field, tore me up. He told me that he was upset because he wouldn't be able to help the team. But then his teammates came over and told them that they loved him. That was heartwarming, considering that he is a new team member. He transferred from 4A Grimsley over the summer, but made an impact on the team immediately, beingsecond on the team in total tackles for most of the year before ultimately finishing third. He also competed in the regionals in several track events, posting times at the 4A level that would have medaled at the 2A level. He was really looking forward to that sport as well. But now he faces a long road to recovery, if the MCL is gone, and I just feel terrible for him. I invite you guys to check him out on the SWE max preps page. #22 Raquan White. He doesn't have many highlights because we were late on the idea of creating some, but there are a few. But one man down, next one up. SouthWest will be fine, although we do have a tough opponent stopping by next week. Thanks for love fellas.

SWE98, Sorry to hear about your nephew. I hope it is not as serious as it sounds. If he does need surgery, I would recommend Orthopedics East in Greenville. They handle sports medicine for ECU athletics, etc. My wife and I both had surgeries by Dr. Josiah Duke. He is a MIT engineer turned orthopedic surgeon. Very sharp guy. You want to get the best for your nephew. I would at least get a 2nd opinion before staying local, especially when there are such experienced surgeons just a few minutes away. Best of luck to your nephew.

I know of OE well. I live in Greenville. Well, Winterville. Right between South Central and Ayden Grifton high schools. I have had a procedure done at OE and would recommend them to anyone. I will pass Dr. Duke's name on to my sister. We are also meeting with a guy that coach Cobb suggested. Raquan was in much better spirits today, but in just as much pain. I let him know that NC Preps sends well wishes his way, and he wanted me to thank you guys.

Best wishes for your nephew '98. I was glad to see him get up Friday and had no idea that was your nephew. Coach Cobb usually refers to CRO in Tarboro or Rocky Mount. They are a very knowledgeable bunch that does great work. Personally, I had issues with my hand when I played and went there and they were great. If that's where he went, he's in good hands. Is he a Senior?Tell him to keep his chin up and that he can still help his team - by being a motivator. If he's able, I'm sure he will be at practices and games keeping the other guys straight. Tough game this week too. If they step up again like they did last Friday, we should be fine.

Yeah man, that was my boy. He's been taken off the field two other times this season, but both times, it was for cramps. That's the only reason why I didn't rush onto the field. Besides, I wanted to let the athletic trainer and medical assistants do their jobs. But when he didn't pop up and needed to be physically carried off the field, no ons could keep me off. I could see the pain on his face even with the helmet on. That was me out there, in black and white. And that was me that has the announcement made for someone to move their vehicles because I was trapped in trying to take him to the emergency room. We did go to CRO in rocky mount Monday. I go the one in Tarboro for pain management, so I trust their work. They drew fluid from his knee and said that if there is blood in it, it's definitely blown ACL, and let me tell ya, the syringe was nothing but blood, it seemed. His MRI is this week, but as of right now, we are just trying to make a date for surgery. He probably won't make any practices this week simply due to pain, but he will surely be with the team Friday. I hope that will give the team a boast in morale. My only concern is safety on the sideline. Any suggestions?

Dang. Was hoping it might be a bad sprain or something - long road of recovery but maybe he can hit the track at some point this year if he works hard to get it healthy again. Sideline safety for him would be concerning since I assume he would be on crutches. Kinda tough to say what he should do though. As long as he stays focused on whats happening on the field, I would think he would be fine. I know he is going to want to be front row of the action, but him getting out of the way will be challenging if a gang tackle is headed for him. If he stays behind the LOS when possible that will help. Plus I'm sure standing for 2 1/2 hours isn't recommended. lol.

How do you feel about EB? Don't know a lot about them other than Tarboro beating them back to back in 09/10 (which doesn't matter much now) and FC beat them last year in a shootout. 10-2 seems like a juggernaut and in comparison, their schedule seems to be about as tough as ours. Pretty bad losses to Clinton and WRH who both are strong playoff contenders (WRH probably will be the 1AA champ). They have a long drive which may play a factor as the weather gets colder. Most likely a wet field tomorrow too. Should be a great game in my opinion.

Thanks for the will wishes. He's actually walking now, and pretty good I might add. No brace on, but with a noticeable limp. I don't think he would be able to jump out of the way of danger, but staying behind the LOS is a wonderful and smart idea. He will be at practice today.
East Bladen...hmmm. Their schedule strength wasn't great at all, but you know what...someone could look at ours and say the same thing, and I couldn't argue with it. Had we played this schedule last year, man it would have been tough. But it seems like everybody feel off this year. Compare the teams on our schedule's record this year to last year and you will see what
I mean. North Edgecombe finished 9-4, third round. They are only 6-5 this year, still playing though. Bertie, last year 5-7, playoffs. This year 3-8. Edenton Holmes, last year 11-3, this year 6-6.
4A South Central was 7-5, and I just knew we may be in trouble, but nope. 2-9. Washington, 14-2, state finalist, this year 7-5. Still beat us, but this is just about schedule comparison. Farmville Central, last year 11-3, third round. This year, 5-7. Even North Pitt went from 4-8 to 2-9. Only North Johnston, 1 win to 5, Beddingfield, 4 to 7 so far, Tarboro, 10 to 11 so far, and Nash Central, 0 to 1 smh, improved
this season. Our only saving grace, as far as on paper, is Tarboro. So while it's easy for me to say that the only decent team EB beat was during their very first game, and they got blown out by the other two, the fact is we only played 3 teams ourselves with more than 6 wins, and we lost one of them badly. So I think it will be an interesting game to say the least. A couple of their
supporters have mentioned that they may be without the regular services of their top two backs, a set of twins, but will rotate others in and out constantly. I hope and I believe that our offense is like something that they aren't used to seeing, and that our defense does what they usually do and dismantles their rushing attack, but I'm sure that they are saying the same thing about us. I think we run away with it 35-13 aided by a fumble recovery and a pick late in the game. Was told by their faithful that they don't throw, but u usually have to if you are down late. I'm hoping to meet one of their guys out there, but the yurt is, I haven't even met any of our other guys from here yet. Shame.

Glad to hear it - I was looking for a set of crutches on the sideline friday but if he was walking, he blended in too well. haha.
I don't think you could have predicted the outcome much better - so lets hear what you have in mind for fairmont! lol. After 1 quarter, I thought we were going to have to win this on in the trenches and see who was the tougher group of men, but this game was great all the way around with a ton of notable moments. Tough first half pulling away slightly by halftime, awesome 1-handed pick in later on, Marcus Williams setting the TD record for the school, great offensive explosions to keep the momentum swing balanced, and a great 2nd round win overall to send SWE to the 5th third round appearance since 2006. And I know what you mean on not knowing who everyone is up here. I have followed these message boards since I graduated but just recently joined in. Facing the field, I'm always to the right of the press box at the top - about halfway between it and the band - usually standing half the time.
