While it may sound hypocritical, even though last year it fell to ER traveling, I like that there is a system that tells teams where they stand. Does everyone agree with it? Not at all. But at least it’s a little more transparent than Maxpreps super secret formula.
And will probably change quite a bit in the coming weeks as teams lose/win more into the season.

Remove Bishop and East and add Mountain Heritage to the other 3. In no particular order that's the top 4 teams. Barring injury it will stay that way for the rest of the season most likely.

This will change. However, Mountain Heritage's opponents winning percentage is .3333. They are 8th. With their schedule this year, doubt they get a home game after round 3. In 2022 Mt. Airy was 3rd behind Draughn and ER in the RPI rankings in the West even though most "polls" had them #1 in the west and State. If Draughn had not lost in Rd. 4, MA after beating ER away would have had to travel to Draugh for the Western Finals. Last year due to RPI MA had to travel to Robbinsville even though all polls said otherwise.

Forget polls. This is what we have.

Agreed, but Robbinsville will probably start winning. Chase isn't looking too good though. 0-2, haven't scored a point yet and have Draughn and Freedom to come over the next weeks which will be tough. Yikes.

I don't see how MA jumps Eastern Randolph this year though unless they were to do the unspeakable and lose to Orange Blue team. Lots of football to be played though, as said.

Also 2022, Andrews had that great year and was the 2 seed but lost to Draughn in round 4. Thomasville was 3 seed and also lost to Draughn. Draughn had to travel to MA as a 6 seed for the western finals after MA beat ER. I can remember that becaue the Draughn fanbase and team pretty much pissed off most of western NC fanbases on the way to MA. Even made Mitchell folk pull for MA after the 2021 playoff debacle and arguing. It was an interesting playoff that year.

Well I guess ER playing BYE had a huge effect on their OWP, not to mention their OOWP…
What can you do though? Not a huge gate but for some reason keep scheduling them every year 🤷‍♂️
 
Most 1a teams would have a tough time with 3a Erwin this year, Robbinsville is better than their record, we just routed a decent Hendo team, Chase is bad but I don't know how you can do better than a 54-0 shut out they also just took Draughn to ot, numbers are what they are though we will see how things go in the playoffs all Heritage can do is win cause our conference isn't going to do us any favors in rpi

It's way too early to worry about RPI. I said in a different post, normally in the past they don't post RPI until week 6 or 7. It'll only get more accurate after that.

Maybe I am missing something. If you look at the stats we are every bit as good as last year. A few more penalties that will be cleaned up but we have a bunch of athletes still in the fold. Guess you might find out first or second round this year instead of the late rounds.

I'd say rn it's not crazy to think Robbinsville could keep it within 2-3 scores of Mt Airy Murphy might be closer than that, I could be wrong but I don't think Mt Airy would just flat out dominate those two, I think between Mt. Airy, Heritage, Starmount and Eastern Randolph those would all be extremely close games

If we are being honest IMO MA is not as good as last year they lost a lot of leadership. Starmount game will tell a lot.
A lot of penalty's that hasn't gotten better. Hard to replace 2 D1 players that played both ways and a QB that was spark plug of the team. This MA team has to find their own identity. Starting center lost for the year will hurt. Depth is not there this year. Don't get me wrong MA is still top dog in the West but very beatable. #4 is amazing but if he gets injured would be hard to replace. Trust me Bears are missing #21 #25 #32 #15 #65 #3 #51. If Bears find a passing game would be a game changer. I think next year Bears could be 2023 good!

I don’t judge by stats, I’m looking at the highlights you put on here. 4 is good no doubt, but he ain’t mason. Line play is not as strong either. Good, yes, but not what they had. Don’t get butt hurt buzzy, just because my opinion doesn’t match yours 👍
 
East Surry and North Surry are soft? You can tie both teams to West Stokes. Quite frankly East should have beaten a VERY good west stokes team. That west stokes team should have beaten Randleman . West stokes will finish 2nd in what appears to be a pretty strong conference with walkertown jumping into the top 10 in 2a rankings. We hear the same things every year. Everyone above mentioned will get their shots at the CHAMPS at Wallace Shelton this year. Will be interested to hear your response on Saturday morning following that title shot. With a VERY GOOD Starmount team that should be a legit test for this team , a really good East Wilkes team , and the continued success of East Surry , North Surry , Ashe and yes West Stokes the Bears rpi will continue to rise. A conference championship, Number seed, a western regional championship and another game with Tarboro. That expectation has been established with this group and they are VERY capable of making it happen.
