Forest Hills hits the road again, this time heading up I-85 to square off against Salisbury. I believe FH advances to the 4th round if they can eliminate the penalties and play their game. The defense has improved and the offense is firing on all cylinders.

Not sure how good the 11-1 record is for Salisbury by looking at their schedule and scores, and also not sure about their level of home-field advantage.

We've played up there a couple times over the years going 1-1. They usually have a decent crowd but we need to bring even more. Looks like we have 3 common opponents. Walkertown, Lexington & N. Rowan. We both lost to Walkertown during the regular season and beat N.Rowan and Lexington.

Jackets and Hornets, two of the premier bugs in the bug league.
The story is when Forest Hills was being built around 1958-59 (opened in '60) the infestation of yellow jackets on the land that was cleared for the school was so bad it affected the the actual construction. So when construction was complete they chose Yellow Jackets as the school mascot. 🐝 🐝 🐝 🐝

Wonder if they ran into the same issues with the new one? Same forests.

Does FHHS still pretty much use the same facilities as when it opened in 1960? If so, any plans to build a new school on the horizon? I can't imagine a 65 year old school being in that great a shape.

Looking at the records, Salisbury's 11-1 mark is impressive, but it's important to consider the strength of their schedule. The fact that Forest Hills is 1-1 against Salisbury speaks to a competitive rivalry. Eliminating penalties will be crucial for Forest Hills to maintain their momentum and capitalize on their offensive strengths.

New school is under construction currently next to the west end of the football stadium. It's being built to support 1500 plus students. The old high school will then be remodeled and turned into the middle school.

I remember the Coach Lowery days! They used to carry a huge log when they came out for the game. I'm guessing they stopped that????
That was just one year 1994. We started the season 0-4 and the team was angry and had a team only meeting out in the woods behind the stadium. They found a tree and pushed it over as a team. They carried it out every game after that. From that point on we won every game and made it to the 3A west regional final. We lost to Burns in the final in a barn burner of a game unfortunately but it was a great year.
