11th game

Should have 11 week season and leave it up to the school whether they want to play 11. No endowment just let the schools have it.
How would that affect playoffs if some have ten, some eleven? Would eleven be counted? If not, what game is dropped?
Eleven week schedule. School is allowed to play all eleven weeks if they wish to schedule it. They can play ten and have a bye. May not be logistically simple with scheduling in even team conferences.
A lot of coaches over the years have told me the season is too long. I think a bye week is great but 11 games, a bye and five playoff games makes for a long season. Does not hit the larger schools as much but can really set back the smaller schools winter sports programs.
Not a right or wrong answer.
Don't know, part of trying to figure it out. Does the computer figure it out in some form? Do you reward the school that plays 11 or do you give them a drop of a game to reward the team that stepped out of their comfort zone? Not a simple fix.
Did not like the schools playing an eleventh game and then having to figure out the endowment aspect for the two schools and paying money to the NCHSAA.
We have seen schools have less than 11 and even play nine. Think Dutch Fork only had ten a few years ago and then lost one taking them to nine.
Not advocating for 11 game season one way or the other it doesn't matter to me. But the biggest thing is I think basketball season should be pushed back further to give a gap between it and football. That way you don't have kids losing focus on one sport for another one coming up. And it's not like basketball is weather dependent
Always wished baketball would start the week after Thanksgiving. Also, questined why schools without football were allowed extra games. Told it was to help offset the loss of football gate money but never thought that was fair. Not sure if the schools without football allowed their girls team to play extra games but think they did.
