All parents and coaches need to read this. Being a single sport athlete in high school doesn't gain your kids anything. You are hurting their chances later in life. Please, please, please let your kids play multiple sports. This is a MUST READ!! The numbers are staggering.

85% of NFL Draft picks from the last two years were multi-sport athletes in HS

I am at a school that has less than 1300 kids so to have a sports program we have to have multi sport athletes. I push my kids to play them all

A chart that recently went viral on the Internet showing that 42 of the 47 athletes coach Urban Meyer has recruited to Ohio State played multiple sports in high school ....

I agree with the original poster, but I have talked to several parents about their kids playing multiple sports in high school. It's not so much of kids focusing on one sport, but high school sports have become year round. When I was in high school ... Football was from August to November and then it was on to basketball season. Kids feel like they are going to miss out or get behind on the one sport they really love by playing another sport. Some coaches put pressure on kids to focus on one sport and I have also heard coaches encourage kids to play multiple sports for the many reasons mentioned in the above article.
