Yes, maybe distance cousins.
Andy and Opie Taylor were the stage names and it was Andy Griffith and Opie was Ron Haward. I did grow up with a friend who was a Taylor and claimed to be kin to Andy Griffith so you can't ever tell in a small town as Mount Airy was back in the days that Andy lived here and he was born in 1926 to Carl Griffith and his wife, Geneva Nunn, neither a Taylor but may have had relatives that were Taylors. So I think my friend may have just trying to impress people, then again who knows? lol
All brings to mind the TV series Friday Night Lights which ran from 2006-2011 A drama that follows the lives of the Dillon Panthers, one of the nation's best high school football teams, and their head coach Eric Taylor.

Just wondered. The article mentions nothing about going to college and says he became an assistant in the fall after he graduated high school.
Will he now teach at the high school? Being on campus during the school day can be huge.

I wondered this too - pretty sloppy reporting on HSOT's part, which is usually pretty spot-on. I am assuming they meant he became an assistant once he graduated college, not high school.

IIRC, back when the show first started the Sheriff for Surry county was a Taylor. I always assumed the name came from that.

Yes, that was Surry County Sheriff Jim Taylor elected when I turned 16 in 1966. Andy Griffith Show started in 1960s. The Andy Griffith Show got it's start on the Danny Thamas show and Danny Thamas was the producer of the Andy Griffith Shows. I remember that Danny Thomas Show with Danny going through the town of Mayberry and being arrested. Here is the full funny episode for anyone that never saw it. Some characters are different in this first show about Mayberry.

How about those BEARS, buzzcoach ? I don't know who all applied but I don't see anyone that knows these players and what each one is capable of as well as Austin Taylor. All the coaches are staying to hopefully do a threepeat this December. Hang in there and keep up your support for our BEAR Nation BUZZ !

I am getting treatment for my back at Novant Health Spine Specialist and I hope to get to some games this 2024 season and take some pictures to maybe share with MA Athletics and maybe on here. It has been about 8 years since I used my camera, so I may be a little rusty and need to start practicing some soccer or other spring sports. I am not sure how many times I have to go back but I go for the second time this Monday and then about a month after Monday I go for what I understood the Dr. say is a nerve burn. The last time and Monday I get 4 numbing shots on each side of my spine and then a shot with a 3 & 1/2-inch needle somewhere in my spine and that has helped. I hope to see some people I know this fall and those I don't know. Prayers needed.

On Monday I got 12 shots in my lower back again on my 2nd visit. That will be very painful for about 2 days. still have to go back on 5/16/24. Eventually, I get nerve burns at the location they had found which is the most painful. area. I have put this off for years because of the fear of them hitting the wrong place and paralyzing me.

If anyone has had this procedure done can you please tell me what to expect when they are finished using me as a pin cushion? lol I am still hoping for your prayers. 🙏 🙏 🙏
