So after looking over all of my stuff and seeing the new MaxPreps rankings, this is what I've come up with. This is if South Central loses on Thursday. If they win Thursday, there will be a 3 way tie for the last 2 spots between McDowell, East Meck, and South Central. The only way to break that tie will be a draw.

4A/4AA Playoffs

First 4 out: Athens Drive, Rolesville, Grimsley, Ragsdale
Last 4 IN: Olympic, Harding, McDowell, East Meck

Hough is the 4 in the West and Mallard Creek is the 5 in the Midwest...it's not that they are seeded above them, its where they are located. East's ADM is 1816 which is below Hoggard who is on the line. Even if South Central gets in, that would move Hoggard up and make East and SE Raleigh the most populated schools in 4A with 1816. Simmons even has it that way as well!

South has to win and then win a coin flip to get in.

Hough is NOT going to be seeded above Mallard Creek nor will Hough host a game. Lol

East Forsyth is staying 4AA by a...slim student or 2. (Just my opinion)
It doesn't really matter since West is going to win the state championship! Right...? Or is it next year? I can't remember...

CPC, do all of us in Forsyth County a favor and stop posting stupid stuff.

I read some of your posts and it seems like you think this is like college where a committe sits around and makes decisions on where teams are seeded. You realize that all these mock brackets are just using the system already in place right?

98% of the brackets have already been determined based on conf champ, overall record and geography. They just dont make it up over a weekend.

Wouldn't Richmond be seeded higher than pinecrest since we gonna finish 2nd in the conference?

Richmond, Pinecrest and Fuquay are in a 3 way tie. The only way Richmond would have been seeded above Pinecrest would be if they were the only two in the draw. Since it's a 3 way draw it goes to best overall record next which puts Pinecrest ahead of Richmond. Richmond ahead of Fuquay because of MaxPreps rankings.

I originally though the same as you and thought Richmond should be ahead of Pinecrest but one of the posters on here helped me and corrected me. Hope that helps!

@LineBackerHeadCracker is it the NCHSAA's fault that the west has the most top teams in a bracket? While I agree it kinda sucks for parity.... what can you do. You can't handicap the brackets to make the east side tougher. I don't think there is a logical way to balance out the brackets. How would you go about balancing them out?

That would be VERY easy...switch to a power points system like SC, VA and Maryland have, rank every school 1 thru 32, then play ball. No pods, no regions, no East / West...just 1 thru 32 and play ball.

I like the idea. But this scenario would drive travel cost way up, not to mention the lost gate revenue from fans unable to attend games so far away. Any idea how to deal with that?

This is exactly what I would do . But in the end it's all about money , which using the pod system saves . I just feel that there has to be a better way.

Get better. Then there is no travel cost.

For Charlotte schools, we don't get gate either way, lol.

Great idea! Why didn't I think of that! Unfortunately, I don't believe home vs away games have any impact on the cost or revenue for a school. The NCHSAA mandates ticket prices and the gate collected is given to them who in turn refund the visiting school for estimated travel costs. The home team keeps the concession sales. So as travel costs go up and fewer fans attend the games due to distance, are visiting schools left to pick up the tab? Does the NCHSAA increase ticket prices? Are there sponsors willing to provide funding?

I'd love to see a state wide bracket with Butler vs MC (or EF vs WF, haha) in the state championship game. Just need to figure out how to make it happen.

The nfl doesn't do it and travel doesn't matter, some years a team not power rated high enough wins their division.

Or you can just say well you got to beat them anyway, whether it be round 4 or round 2.
Bee why wud you say Creek/Butler title like they are the 2
best 4 a teams or something. I guess 4aa Butler has proven
but Creeks results warrant where they will be seeded at this
year. I don't think schools this year are peeing on themselves
worrying about them this year as Ive read on another thread.

The one thing I don't like more than anything else is that in the 4AA ranks, Charlotte will fill 12-14 out of the 16 spots in those two pods in any given year, so it's just more games that we're playing against each other. LOTS of rematches, and even if they weren't, it's still just local teams playing.

I actually enjoy getting out and seeing other parts of the state, or enjoy hosting a team that we know absolutely nothing about. Hoke visited Matthews in 2011, and even thought the game wasn't much, their band was the best, highest energy, most entertaining band that has ever played in our stadium. The home crowd gave them a standing ovation after they were done, and that's still the only time I've seen that happen. If you don't ever see teams from other parts of the state, then you don't know cool things like this even exist.

I see what you mean Hokie...here's a thought, since in 1A & 2A there are teams going across the state and traveling 150mi to over 225mi to play each other, anyway. Why not start seeding 4A in a criss cross pattern similar to what the NCHSAA is doing now. Seed 1-16 W playing 16-1 E. Sounds crazy, but the smaller classes are doing a great travel.

I like it. But I'm guessing the Raleigh coaches would stalemate that motion, lol. And they'd still probably have nightmares about even the mere thought of it.

Well I guess we can tell the state something....Richmond plays Butler ,and Dudley,,,,,pinecrest plays word of GOD.......THEY GET HIGHER SEED....SOMETHING NOT RIGHT IF YOU WANT TEAMS TO PLAY A REAL SCHEDULE...nuff said...:D

I'm not saying Butler and Creek would be the top 2 this year. They've just won it the most lately but always seem to meet early on in the playoffs. Just thinking, when was the last time either of these 2 lost to anyone else in the playoffs? Page in 2011?

Yeah, you gotta beat em sometime. But it would be a lot more fun to have the two best teams in the state championship game rather than the regional final or earlier.

Somehow pinecrest is a ME2 and richmond a ME3 we beat pinecrest and finished above them in the confrence

should not matter better confrence record not some max prep ratings! This crap is the same reason they got rid of the pods in the first place

Some knowledgeable folks up in here. Ya'll keep up the good work up in here , as one can not find all the information that is found up in here on this particular thread in newspapers, laundry mat bulletin boards, sidewalk swalkers, or taxi drivers . I'd say the Charlotte folks make the most sense, excluding the Greensboro congregation.
