Do you see a small dip in talent coming through the Middle School? Will probably be Murphy's weakest JV team in several years, might be looking at 3rd or 4th. I could have definitely saw a 2nd place finish with Johnson (varsity) and Charles (Oaks) but not likely now I would say.
As it stands currently, yes. Things can change (new kids coming out and kids moving in) but as of now it's looking like a weak group.Do you see a small dip in talent coming through the Middle School?
Charles is playing and living in Andrew's. I dont think it's a lack of talent. I think the group will be just fine when they start getting coached by the coaches on jv and varsity. Big diffrence in the coaching from one side of the road to the other. None of the teams in the past ten years except for the senior class of 16 and 17 had a very good youth league record. The group that went to state 4 years in a row had a terrible youth leage record. Lots of parents are letting their kids wait until jv to play because of it also.As it stands currently, yes. I kind of feel like this was inevitable, it's the age grouping that would have been hardest hit by the economic recession a decade ago in terms of young families moving out of the area for work and there seems to be an unusually low amount of skill athletes in that age grouping. I look for the younger age groups to rebound, think the casino has stabilized things here in terms of work opportunities so I see this as a blip not the start of something.
With that said if Coach G hangs it up in the next couple of years whoever takes over may be looking at a few lean years (by Murphy standards) talent wise coming through the pipeline. We'll see though, things can change quickly.
Playing for who?Charles is playing and living in Andrew's.
I know there's always quite a few talented athletes that wait until JV to suit up for football at Murphy and I know that Murphy is hardly ever good at the youth league level and that youth results have next to nothing to do with success at the high school level.I think the group will be just fine when they start getting coached by the coaches on jv and varsity. Good get for Andrews and could be a good player for them down the road if he can stay eligible. He was playing for Andrew's at the 7 on 7 in Blairsville. Living up there now
Unreal..will there be room for them on varsity? That will put us over 60 playersRobbinsville had 39 at the first JV practice.
20 freshman.
I think Rville/Murphy is 9/12.BK do you have any jv schedules? Going to try and watch Rville/Murphy and Rville/Andrews for sure.
I can agree with Williams. Physical with his wrestling training he would be ready. I need to see how Adams adjusts to JV ball before I have a opinion for him. Everyone said he had a great rec league career.Sitout, next year Williams and Adams will both be on varisty
Just curious..but which Coach...but I understand if you dont wanna answerNot liking what Im hearing outta Murphy JV. No rotation or subs in practice just pretty much iron man football for a select group. They may be alright this year but the damage will already be done because your gonna have a quite a few younger boys that wont play jv next year that could have been players on varsity because of it. And you will have more that wont bother to play on varsity if a certain coach moves up next year. If coach g retires after this year then I forsee a big role for this coach on the next staff and rest assure its going to set the program back several years. I hope im wrong but i see the seeds are being sowed.
can you throw me initials?the one that is pretty much running the show now. not coach curtis
I'm not mad I'm just askingSounds like some mad daddies .
Stay out of the coaches business..this ain't pee wees no more boys.
Murphy is scrimmaging Andrews tomorrow at MurphyAny SMC JV's playing this week?
well considering it's a SCRIMMAGE it's really just for practiceThats for 2nd.
Hey @BulldogDad27-23 you, @Cold Biscuit and @therealsquid seem to follow the JV team so what do ya'll think of the two brothers that are new on JV this year, #1 and #14? I know it's hard to say with only practice happening so far, but do either look like they can contribute?I know exactly what you are saying. I know there is a class or two that may not pass the eye test to everyone based on what we have been use to. But I think on the varsity level when they are all mixed together they will be just fine. Lots of talent there IMO. Lots of players that are still developing and several that just havent played alot yet. Give them a couple years under that coaching staff and I believe there are several players that are going to really come around.
I haven't had a chance to see them yet.Hey @BulldogDad27-23 you, @Cold Biscuit and @therealsquid seem to follow the JV team so what do ya'll think of the two brothers that are new on JV this year, #1 and #14? No, not the Laney brothers. I'm familiar with Cole and Ty Laney and I agree that they will be good players for Murphy, not only on JV this season but on varsity in the years ahead.I'm assuming you're talking about the Laney boys..

I'm talking about another set of brothers actually. I think they may have just moved here this year, at the very least they were never part of the Murphy rec league. Their last name is Diaz, both of them have pretty good speed and quickness from what I've heard. I don't know anything else about them though.
I'm not sure what grade they're in. They both look pretty young physically though, especially #1, he might even be a 7th grader.Don't know them, looking forward to watching them play.
