Saw Deana on one of the Eastern NC TV stations a week or so ago. She was pronouncing Duplin like "Dumplin". Correct pronunciation is "Dooplin" for those keeping score lol.

Beulaville is often misspelled as well. I have seen an extra "A" included many times and was actually guilty of it myself many moons ago. Good people in that area and throughout Duplin County.

Spell check got that one too ... Belleville? Where in the wide, wide world of sports is Belleville? Fixed in original post, thanks.

There's a Belville in NC ... but not Belleville. Google revealed a Belleville in Illinois and another in New Jersey. The Belville NC is just southwest of Wilmington. I'm thinking the high school in that area is North Brunswick.

Maiden-Bunker Hill is in the same conference…so this is a rematch as well. Maiden won the first one 36-33.
Bunker Hill is the highest remaining seed at lucky number 13.

Thanks ... correction made about the highest remaining seed Bunker Hill; other additions also made in the original post. THANKS to the editors!
And thanks Grizzled Devil for your statistical info ... I wanted this thread to be facts (and fact checks) and not a bunch of predictions.

More notes:
• Maiden's only loss was to Watauga back in August by a 23-19 count.
• Watauga (10-2) was eliminated by Northwest Guilford in 4A round two last week. Watauga's only other loss was to 2-A Burns by a 48-28 margin on early September. Impressive win for Burns.
• Reidsville's only loss was to 4-A Greensboro Page back in week 2. Page lost in playoffs round 1 and finished 5-6 overall, closing on a 3-game skid. Seems the Pirates played their best against the best competition ... gave undefeated Greensboro Grimsley a 27-22 scare in October.

In sum: there are some great resumes in the 2-A West final 8.

That is correct. Belville is just outside of Leland, NC where North Brunswick High School is.
