When are we going to talk SMC football????

I'm a little worried about my knights this year ... we graduated our QB, Colton Millsaps, our RB, Lane Millsaps, our big guy, 2 time All WNC & SMC lineman of the year, Austin Hedrick, as well as two more of our tough-as-nails O line. Hard to replace players like that. Of course I thought the exact same thing last year after we lost Skylar, Cruz, and our kicker, Josh Gibson. So maybe I'm just worrying for nothing and we will be like Murphy and Swain and just reload.
I imagine the Black Knights will be fine. Should be between the big 3 with Cherokee possibly trying to get in there to make some noise. Murphy starts spring practice tomorrow should be interesting. I know from this point on my son will be pretty busy. Plenty of talent on the Murphy roster we'll just have to wait and see how it all comes together. There should be a lot of options in the backfield that's for sure and the big boys have been working hard in the weight room. Looking forward to see what happens.
Hard to imagine them being anything but 1AA. Last year they made the cutoff by 1 with enrollment of 499.
Cherokee having great numbers at spring ball im hearing. Should have solid line as the fresh and Soph are now experienced soph and jr. Mintz will be a beast and Evans the soph rb is looking like he is gonna be a monster. Hope he had recievers to throw too.
I don't see Swain or Murphy beating James Kenan or Wallace-Rose Hill for the 1AA Championship. WRH and JK are simply loaded. I do believe that Murphy and Swain will be in the mix for the Western Regional Championship.
They both should be in the hunt for sure. Murphy should be tough this year. They should be more potent on the ground this year than last with more weapons to choose from. I don't know how competitive they can be with WRH or JK but I sure hope we get a chance to find out.
Murphy was more than competitive against a 16-0 WRH team in the 2010 finals before dropping a 22-21 game...If Murphy is Murphy in 2016 they can play with anybody in 1-AA my opinion.... When Murphy and Swain are peaked they ain't Mitchell.........
That was 6 years ago and WRH and JK are even better now than then. Both will go 2A in 2017 so that will help you out although Tarboro will be a beast.
A looooong way to go til December. Way to early to be guessing who has anything for WRH or JK. Murphy opens the season up at Hendersonville, which should be a great early test for the Dogs. A lot of potential for Murphy this year, but can also say the same for Robbinsville, Swain, and Cherokee. Should be a very interesting season in the smc.
Murphy had a good turnout to start spring practice even with several players out due to baseball and track. It's good to see the kids back in pads.
Smc back of the(Colton Millsaps) year last year's has changed colleges. Was at Limestone SC. Now he is a Mars Hill guy. Don't know about the Hedrick boy. He also was accepted to Limestone.

Which Millsaps runs the 100 meter on the track team. I talked to his brother at one of the meets. I believe he may be a JV coach. Really nice guy I try not to like Robbinsville folks because my son plays for Murphy but they ruin it by always turning out so nice when I talk to them. I certainly hope I come across the same way. Look forward to a good game between the two and a good season for both.
I love how the "down east" lovers always come out with a couple of their teams that SMC teams "can't play with". First of all, we will just see. Maybe you are right Earnhardt Forever, or maybe you are not. Ultimately it will be decided on the field. If both JK and WRH will be 2A in 2017, then I'm assuming they have enrollments over 700 kids. If that's the case, well they should be favored. I won't say they'll be beaten by a SMC team because I don't know anything about what they have coming back. I also believe you probably don't know what Murphy and Swain have coming back. This is the time of year to be talking about potential and excitement, it's certainly not the time of year to be declaring champions and world-beaters.
Mbulldog42, have you seen the new kid from Union Co., GA in person yet? Heard he played FB and LB for them last year. Also heard he benched 360 last week. I can definitely see him starting at LB, but wonder where he'll fit in on offense .... awful deep backfield.
From what I've seen he's a big strong kid. He's not as fast as some of the other backs we have and has been running with the 2nd team on Offense. Now it's spring ball and they are just evaluating everyone but he will contribute I believe, on which side of the ball is the question. I think probably more on defense but we'll see.
WRH and JK would be in the top 10 in the 2A today. It's not a knock on the SMC, it's just the truth. The same holds true for every other 1A school in the state. And for the record, I don't live in Eastern NC.
Well that's kind of surprising. Is there any truth to a rumor I heard about Vining coming back? The kid from Union was strong looking just seemed to run kind of stiff to me. Of course I'm no expert both my sons are runners I played with my hand in the dirt. I hate Shope got a little banged up today I guess better now than later.
How did he get banged up? Did they hit him hard because he was the new kid.
Hunter Shope is not new to the team. He will be a sophomore and has played since rec ball. I believe he twisted his knee and ankle, don't really know how bad. The young man from Union County I really don't know why he left the team, you can only speculate.
