Man, I haven't visited or signed on here in awhile.

Getting ready for a new season of HS sports. On vacay right now doing the recharge thing.

Just curious: what type of stuff can we do of interest both in The Charlotte Observer and the (Raleigh) News & Observer as well as on our Talking Preps streaming show that might be of interest? Anyone you want to see on our podcast Talking Preps OT?

I'll check back later.

Langston, I grew up first outside Albemarle and then Statesville. I am now 71 (August 16) and have read/followed the Charlotte Observer no matter where I have lived (Lenior, Granite Falls, Valdese, Tullahoma Tn, and for the past 40 years in Mt Airy.
Two things the Observer could and, I think, should do. First, since the Winston Salem Journal no longer covers Surry, Stokes or Wilkes County high school sports, please include these schools and conferences in your coverage. On Friday night and Sunday morning I always go to the Observer to see what the other area schools have done.
With Mt Airy and East Surry providing some of the very best 1A and 2A football programs in the State over the past 20-30-40 years, you would have a lock of this areas high school sports nuts such as myself.

Second, on Thursday and Friday I watch the Mt Airy Bears. I even watch the Bears on Saturdays: The Lenoir Rhyne Bears of Hickory. These Bears have provided the NFL with Kyle Dugger, starting Free Safety for the New England Patriots; and this past year Bear Wide Receiver Dareke Young was drafted by the Seattle Seahawks in the 7th round.

If you need help, just ask. I wrote sports articles (parttime) for the Statesville Record and Landmark as well as the Hickory Daily Record while in college. I also provided high school and Surry County Little League Football coverage for 11 years (never got paid a dime, not even a press card but I did it for the love of it).

So help us out here and include this area in your coverage area. We need you and will be very loyal to the Observer.

Thanks RE, can definitely look into doing some of that. We probably can't be the day-to-day source but we can certainly potentially get a little coverage cooking. Will look into that.
