Anyone who has coached for or against Bartlett Yancey knows that they have always had athletes. They have even had several good lineman. (One great lineman, Michael Brooks who got a Super Bowl ring with the Seahawks) They just never lived up to their potential. They had almost zero community support and had a principal that did everything she could to hurt the program. The weight room is in an aluminum building that floods when it rains. I would like to congratulate the new coach on his success. I always knew the kids there could win games. They just needed support from the administration. Well.....the old principal got arrested for selling school equipment to a local pawn shop and now the football team is 2-1 with their only loss to Person County, by 5. Great job Bartlett Yancey. I hope that the kids there finally get to have a good experience and that the community support explodes. I think the school will finally find out that if football is successful then everything else at the school is better off. Good luck Buccaneers!!

I really pray that the program at B-Y is about to turn around. I love the kids on the team and the people in the community. It was great seeing a lot of them last week, and I hope you all continue to push for success! Remember: I.N.A.M

I've been telling people that this B-Y team could be the team that give My Rams a L in conference play if we under estimate them and come out flat.

Well put `BringtheThunda`, Michael Brooks was a Beast at BY. My niece was in the band up until 2012 and I`ve seen some good athletes there. Bradley Taylor was a LB that would knock your shoes off and Bradley Lipscomb was just a pure athlete that could play any position. I was at the Person game Monday and was really impressed with that young team...#15 the RB was outstanding!! The QB play in my opinion needs some work.

Why did the former principal do so much to purposely hurt the football program? That is stupid considering all the gate money a decent team with good attendance can bring in.

That is a great question Fitguy. I think that they simply haven't had success at BY in a long time...if ever. So they just don't know the benefits. She saw it as a nuisance. Something that money had to be spent on. Couldn't understand that it could actually make a whole lot of money if you put a little in. She never supported the coaches. Reversed discipline decisions made by the coaches all the time. It is a shame because they really had some great talent. Those kids deserved a better experience.
