looks like a good hire here.

I have no doubt the coaching ability of Coach Mckoy may be desirable; However, I do not see the advantage of replacing Mitch Reeves who took over a team that had went 0-11 the previous season, and lead them to four wins with close losses in a few others. It is just my opinion that if a coach is having success it would severe the school good to see how that continues before you hire a coach from outside the district. Especially if he has already had problems with sanctions from the state due to ineligible players. An infraction that lead to the coach stepping down and the team having to forfeit wins....
A lot of untruth in what you are saying regarding McKoy. Andrews, along with a lot of other schools in Guilford County some years ago including Dudley were penalized for 8 quarter documentation not having dual signatures from coach and AD. That was 1 season and the documentation requirements have since been cclarified as a whole across the state. If you were at the coaching convention that next year it was brought up and nearly 75% of the coaches and AD’s in attendance raised their hand and confirmed that they weren’t aware of the dual signature requirement so Guilford County did it by the book whereas many others likely would have been popped across the state if their county did an audit for 8 quarter paperwork. Regardless it was a technicality and shameful that the nchsaa made the ruling they did but it fell in line with their decisions every year that the rules are black and white in their eyes with no gray area. It is what it is. So you should be clear on why wins were forfeited that 1 season. And to be clear and take it a step farther, McKoy coached another season or 2 after that at so he wasn’t forced to resign as you proclaim. He stepped away from the time and stress of the job and has seemingly recharged his batteries and ready to be a head guy again. Good for him. Don’t smear his name with lies. He’s a great hire for walkertown. I’d expect them to be quite competitive under his leadership if the talent is there.
Forced to step down = infraction led to him stepping down is pretty much paraphrasing. I think most here would agree. Regardless it’s a glaringly false statement as highlighted below.
Again, you must not read well because the issue wasn’t with the use of 8 quarter players but with lack of dual signature on paperwork as noted. No 8 quarter players exceeded the allowable playing time for JV/Varsity. And again, even as your article showed, he stepped down in 2016 whereas the infractions were discovered Right as the playoffs started in 2014. The forfeits were retroactive for the 2014 season and Andrews had to pay back their portion of the gate from the 1 playoff game with Monroe they played in if i remember correctly.
Be aggravated with them not keeping the interim coach around which is understandable. That’s your issue but don’t degrade the integrity or facts around coach mkcoy as part of that. That’s all. Carry on.
It was more than signatures on the eight quarter forfeits. Number of players allowed to participate in the eight quarter program during the season. Juniors being allowed to play in both the JV and varsity games which is illegal. Correct filing of said forms both pre and post varsity game. The issues at Dudley were not a one time / season occurence.
The eight quarter eligibility is a great tool but too many programs dismiss simple steps while some intentionally took advantage of it.
Momma always said "boy its better to let them question your intelligence then to open your mouth and leave them with no doubt" in this case I think you could learn from this. By saying that my comment about stepping down leads one to suspect that he was forced out gives the impression that others must have thought that at the time. it reflects that you feel as though you must defend the position that he was not. Again I am not saying that he was just that he stepped down.
another thing that I am saying is do not place words in my mouth. If I wanted to say something I would and I do not need your help doing so. I'm a big boy and a proficient speaker of the english language.
Instead I think the problem may be a comprehension issue. It doesn't matter if the problem was a paperwork issue or a player issue the issue was still due to illegal eight quarter players regardless of if they played or not the wrong paperwork made the players ineligible.
As for the understanding of eight quarter paperwork I have never been in guilford county schools but I can tell you that Stokes, Surry, and Forsyth county schools have had the same standards for eight quarter players since at least 2009, or at least every school that I have been at has.
In the words of the Great Mike Leach "You're either coaching it or allowing it to happen." and when it comes down to it this kind of thing comes down on the head coach and the AD.
So now you are saying that he wasn’t forced to step down but you clearly in post 1 said the following.
“An infraction that lead to the coach stepping down and the team having to forfeit wins....”
You got a lot of mouth trying to deflect while you talk in circles. Anybody on this thread can see you backpedaling. Just don’t trip. I could truly care less about Walkertown, I simply think it’s a great hire for them. I don’t know the circumstances of the previous coach and why he wasn’t retained which seems to be your issue here. I don’t know the guy or anything about the situation to speak on that. But I can assure you that walkertown is getting a good coach that will connect with the kids and put them in position for success in time.
Back up the mouth tooI haven't back peddled or changed my stance once just continuously had you changing my words. I am starting to believe that you may be a democratic member of congress.
I am responsible for what I say not what you interpret. I can not help that you are too ignorant to take my comment for what it is, instead you are reading in to deep and thinking that I have an underlying motive. I have not shit on anyone you are simply deducting that because I said he stepped down and you assume that I must be assuming he was forced out.
Dudley May have been popped for actually using players above and beyond 8 quarter dual participation. I do recall hearing that it had been going on for a while there but don’t know details on that program and the issues with 8 quarter. I can however speak with certainty that Andrews was truly a paperwork issue and I know of many more that were as well during that time. Some documents missing dual signature of coach and AD. Another school in Guilford County was popped for parents not signing the 8 quarter document.
