Walkertown hires Coach

Decent and has potential. Fairly good school with nice facilities. Toughest thing for them is where they are located. They probably lose some kids to powerhouse E. Forsyth and another strong neighbor Glenn HS. Other than Reidsville their conference isn't real strong. Could easily finish 2nd with right person leading them.

As long as Misti Walker is there as Principal good freaking luck. Coaching for her has to be Awful just awful

They have talent but that talent is hanging on by a thread. Better be a good hire or else! Could have ripple effect in other sports!

They just lost a guy to east Forsyth last season, he is a division one prospect

Yep; that kid was a stud too. Their best athlete and star RB in the Wing. Once he took off that pretty much killed their hopes. They were still quite athletic but hard to replace that kind of talent. They looked really out of sorts.

Can't say I'm a bit surprised by this. Walkertown's always been a shakey and less than stable program anyways. This will be their 5th head coach in 9 soon to be 10 full seasons. They can't keep anything afloat there; it is possible to win, but it usually ends with it all collapsing and the HC getting pied in the face somehow on the way out.

Pardue had the it the worst with that 2017 season being so awful, but McKoy's farewell (if it's true,) is more embarrassing. It's basic HS Football management 101 to check to make sure your kids are 100% qualified and legal to play or not. By not doing so you look either really incompetent or it shows you don't care which is never a good sign, as it it indicates worse stuff. Given the fact that this happened to him before at Andrews in 2014 there's no surprises here.

This is great news for North Forsyth and everyone else in that conference. This makes the #2 spot more wide open going forward. If they start losing kids which I see happening then it'll be a rough road ahead for whoever takes it. You can't just recruit kids over and expect to instantly win and stay afloat going forward. You got to create steady grounding and go forward. Same thing happened to Crowell at Carver. They had a nice run then one thing happened and out the kids went and it all fell apart and he was done not long after.

Good luck to whoever takes it it's gonna be a bumpy ride.

Gotta keep QB (basketball player) in building or it will definitely crash.

Cross Country Coach
Football

All open positions.

I know the past three AD’s that were there all three are great guys. The fact that CS left tells you all you need to know about that place. The person in charge is awful to work for. Look people leave places all the time all for different reasons. But ask the ones who have left and I bet the reason is all the same

Does anyone really have to ask this question about any kid that goes to a power program? I think it's simple, if they are a player they want to win.
The answer is clear, but I thought there was more to it.

To be honest though McKoy didn't really do that much to change the culture for the better there. He wasn't focused on that; he wanted to use the system to get wins in the short term. It worked a couple of years and karma came back to bite him for it. You can't win consistently at any level in NC with open enrollment unless you make a program stable from the ground up and help keep players around. East Forsyth had to do that in the 2000's when they were so awful now they are the star program. So has West Forsyth and Glenn. He never did that, he came in expecting his rep would help him over. He was all about short term winning. He honestly didn't have to struggle much because their non conference schedule in 2019 was piss poor and they had luck with a WPAC last spring being very down with numbers issues when they had that all star squad. Once he faced adversity he couldn't handle it. His plan backfired when the RB left for East and they struggled bad last year. Now it's biting everyone in that athletic department involved hard.

That's been Walkertown's problem since day 1 . They haven't found anyone tough enough to stay around. Springston in his credit had his issues and he couldn't help it. Pardue was too much of a hotshot he wasn't right for that job. He inherited a good team from Springston and coasted off it for a good year then let everything fall apart. He's one of the few HC's I've felt sorry for. He had a lost look on his face both games we played them in 2017. He had to play a JV team pretty much that year due to letting his stars transfer and he couldn't fix it. For what he was Mitch Reeves did a solid job in 2018. He improved them dramatically in one year, it helped having such a solid RB though in that Cherry kid. . About upset us for 2nd place in 2018 before we woke up and came back to win. It shouldn't have been close but he installed the wishbone and it gave us fits. He honestly won my respect as a coach for that. They were so dumb for forcing him out; honestly he woulda had them just as solid the next year if not maybe more so than McKoy.

Whoever gets the job will have a challenge on his hands. Someone on the inside won't do; they need an outsider who's willing to be patient to build it up. It won't be easy. North Forsyth's gunning for 2nd place as is McMichael and West Stokes. NF has a lot of momentum and McMichael upset everyone last year. West will have a new offence but will have to overcome #'s. Very good chance Walkertown could slip if they don't get the internal situation fixed. Andrews and Morehead is lusting to improve. Might have an interesting conference for all of them this fall well besides Reidsville crushing.

Yes, which is why teams like Walkertown, North Forsyth and Carver will not have any luck of the draw.
They won't have any luck because the schools are awful. Its not 1975 anymore! Why would any kid want to go to those schools? They're falling apart and have more problems than you can count from 9am - 3pm. Don't believe me just go substitute teach at one of those schools one day..... you'll see real quick why kids opt to go to West Forsyth, Reagan, Tabor, Glenn or East Forsyth. Your child may start the yr with 1 math teacher by October have a new sub, and by December a new permanent sub. Has less to do with football or sports than you may think and more to do with having a solid education that prepares them for College.

Maybe forfeiting your season in every sport including cheerleading could have something to do with it too? I could be wrong but the kids that play sports are leaving for a reason. Maybe look into why people went there to begin with and why now they're all running out as quick as possible?

That kid left way before the forfeits (he was on the covid spring team,) but indeed I agree.

Didn't Carver have some renovations done there in the last 10-15 years? If so, the actual buildings there should not be in that bad a shape.
