He wasn’t given a 15 yd, the head coach got that 15. He is asked prior to every game are all his players legal and properly equipped. We had a kid with a smoked visor last week and he was given a 15 yard penalty and told to remove it and he could come back out. Coach was pissed
I’m sitting here at South Caldwell and their is kids with clear ones on.I had a kid in PeeWee that had a clear 1. Ref said they are illegal in High School and couldn't wear it. Just wanted clarification.

Is there some logic behind that? If so,it escapes me.That referee is 100% incorrect. Clear is fine, anything else requires a doctors note and notification to game officials in pregame.

Sorry. I meant logic behind the rule on tinted ones. Is it concern for the player's ability to see clearly at night if it's tinted?Logic behind colored visors or visors all together?
Visors-generally to protect eyes from hand contact
Colored visors-same as above but also for any degenerative eye condition that has bright light sensitivity
Reality is, most kids wear them because they look cool.

Thanks. That's the logic I was missing. It is my understanding that it is for medical response testing in the event of injury. If it’s tinted, the eyes can’t be seen from head on when lying flat on the ground.
