NCPreps will be releasing their top games for Week 5 and we certainly have some good ones coming up, whether it is non-conference or conference matchups.

But we want to hear your early thoughts on the game we should be watching for.

Murphy hosting 4a Gilmer County, GA.
Gilmer won last year 49-10 but Murphy was on the road and decimated by injuries. Murphy usually looks like a different animal at home in games like this though. They have taken down some big schools at home over the years. Gilmer lost a lot from last year including their head coach. So they will be running a whole new system on both sides of the ball. Murphy lost a lot from last year too and is pretty young this year but they seem to be coming together a little bit. They are 3-1 and a win here would be huge going into SMC play. Should be an interesting Friday night on the Hill!

Murphy isn't exactly heathy this go around either, they had 4 starters out last Friday night : both cornerbacks (Davis and Posey) wingback (Posey) center (Graves). As well as 4 of the primary backups: wingback (Davis and Morrow) cornerback (Morrow), defensive tackle (Graves)

Obviously Davis is done for the season and Posey is out at least another two weeks, any idea if Morrow or Graves are playing Friday night? I haven't asked anyone that would know yet. If Morrow doesn't play that means Creelman (the 3rd string wingback himself) will be backed up by Murphy's 5TH string wingback Friday night. And things aren't much better at corner, where Murphy is down to their #3 and #4 corners (Conners and Creelman) and their backups now are the #6 corner and the #7 corner since Morrow is out

God forbid Creelman gets hurt, if that happened Murphy would be in bad shape at corner and especially wingback. I really hope the intial Oct 2nd timeline for Posey's return was accurate. Creelman has done a good job but Murphy needs another player besides just him and the deeep reserves wingback if Morrow is out any length of time with that foot injury.

I haven't heard anything either (injuries). I'm just hoping that between Gilmer replacing so much and Murphy being at home, maybe the Dogs can eek one out. It's still tough for a 1a team to beat a 4a team with about 80 kids on the roster so we'll see. I hope Gilmer brings their big band and a big crowd. It adds a lot to the atmosphere.

Plymouth at Camden should be for the conference title. The winner of this game has a leg up in the conference. Some say this is Camdens year? We shall see...the Vikings are not the caliber of the last few years, not quite as deep and I havent really seen a vocal team leader on the field yet. The Vikings have talent and should get there top RB in Chad Dance back this week, he has seen only a handful of carries all year due to a nagging ankle injury. Camden has a monster at RB in Marcus Joyner, who last week got a little banged up against Columbia where the Wildcats hung tough with Camden and nearly won the game. If that is any indication of the Camden Bruins, they won't beat the Vikings tonight. Maybe they were looking ahead to this week? Who knows? With all that said, I'm going with the Vikings 34-24...VIKING PRIDE!!

Southern Nash vs Tarboro should be an interesting game for both ball clubs. Southern is coming off an overtime lost to South Johnston, in which they had a 14 point lead in the second half. How will they rebound against Tarboro?

For Tarboro, this is their toughest opponent they've had this year. Tarboro has yet to play a complete game, yet they are 4-0, so if they can clean up the mistakes it will be interesting to see how good they could be.. These next two weeks will let the Vikings know where they stand and how to they must direct themselves down the road.

Good luck to everyone this evening
