Two teams on two different paths with a long history of rivalry. Thomasville 7-3 are back to winning ways, playing well and are looking for a blowout win heading into the playoffs. The 1-9 Jackets are struggling and got smashed by WD last week. A long list of things are getting in the way of Lexingtons success including the kids just not getting it done. Lexington has some very good athletes but are not playing as a team or responding to the coaching change. Emotions will be high early on due to city rivals, Social media smack talk and former Bulldog RB V. Cunningham who transferred to Lexington for his Senior Year. The Dogs will score way too many times to allow the Jackets to keep it close and run away with it to finish 8-3 which puts them in a much better playoff position, possible home game in 2A. Dogs win by 50+.

Lexington needs some momentum badly.. even if they lose by 42+ if they play hard and fight maybe the returning kids can find some momentum and make things better. It's not gonna be an easy fix.

Thomasville needs to get to 42 for the running clock and make sure their starters don't get banged up.. they can't afford to play lackadaisical and sloppy.

Coach will have them focused up this week. Just don't need any major penalties or stupid stuff leading to ejections. Small roster makes it hard to sub to avoid injury. Need a huge lead as mentioned above so they can use what few badkups they have. About all they can do would be to pull a few JV kids up or rotate the RB's and WR's in and out as the game goes to limit reps. Most of the JV age kids that could help are already starting for the Dogs #16, #23, #24, #41 to name a few.

I don’t see ejections even a thought in this game on the T’ville side. This is NOT the same type kids from years past they are respectful to other players (win or lose). Head coach has made that his first priority it seems.

I never take Lexington lightly!!! Anytime the Dogs can beat them its a good day! Lexington will be back maybe not this year or next year but they will be back. Way too many athletes to stay down forever. Still cant figure out how they beat North Rowan.

Not expecting the Dogs to get penalties, but have seen a few really good kids get prodded into a penalty during this game before. This game always gets salty with hits, gestures and mouthing so the Dogs just have to be extra focused.

Any idea how the rest of the JV and middle schools kids looking? I expect the recent success with coach Doug will get more kids interested into playing.

Honestly, I was expecting Lexington to have a good season after that win but for whatever reason the players aren't buying into the coach. Ether way we can't sleep on them.

Thomasville middle school record last year was 5-3 about 27 on the roster. This year 47 initially came out ended up with 39. Currently 6-1 behind Ledford 6-0 ( both should end up with one more win but you never know) Thomasville middle has extreme talent at the 8th grade level. 21 talented with size, speed, and athleticism. Has scored 214 points allowing only 82. Very excited about the next 3-5 years for the Bulldogs

I believe it was BlackKnightNut who said Lexington is so bad SD would give them a run for their money lol...if that's the case this years addition of the yeller jackets would have to be the worst in their history

after Lexington City Schools big stink about playing South in middle school sports, I don’t foresee that match up being scheduled any time soon. It would be a good game this year though.

SD is still far from being good but they seem improved this year and have bought in to what the new coach is doing. I would still consider them an underdog to Lex but I really do think it could be an entertaining game lol.

Battle for the worst in DC. Never thought I would put the Jackets in that convo...

just a couple of short years ago, I was hoping to see a CD vs SD game for worst in the county.

as we move forward, i think Lexington and south are still headed towards the worse. Lexington could get back to the middle of the pack with just a little good fortune. South needs to stay on some sort of steady path or they’ll lose all the progress they’ve made in just one short off season.

Key for South is continuity. They need to keep the players that start together to stay together for four years.

Lexington just needs a jumpstart period. Not sure that's gonna happen but I hope for the kids sake at least it does.

I would think the halls of Lexington high school are crawling with athletes. They need someone to come in like we have at Thomasville and motivate and get the community excited about winning or at least competing. I thought the world was coming to an end 4 years ago but we are turning things around for the good. Ledford and East use to never beat us but Ledford has owed us as of late, and East has won like 3 out of last 5 years. Lexington will be back I have no doubt.

Good to hear! Already Like what I see from the guys that moved up from JV.

That reminds me of how bad Carver has gotten. Never imagined we would go from of the best 3A football teams to a bottom feeder 2A team that barely beat SD at home.

If anyone confused I went to Thomasville from Kindergarten through part of 9th. Then moved to Winston were I graduated at Carver in 03. Both schools my home.

You’ll always be a Bulldog!

What makes you think that hallways at Lexington are "crawling" with athletes? There have been numerous coaches to roll through Lexington since the heyday in the 80s. I think the athletes "as a whole" at schools like Ledford, Oak Grove, and North are actually way better than the athletes "as a whole" that currently walk the halls at Lexington. It's funny how we always equate the demographics of a school and whether or not they have athletes.

Lexington, Thomasville and all the Davidson County schools have kids in the hallways that "could" be playing sports, always have and always will. Lexington had been trending downwards already so it may be a few years before they get back and get more kids out. Thomasville is winning again, but still lacks depth and numbers with the winning so hopefully two very good seasons results in more kids. Ledford, OG and ND have more diverse student populations now, especially Ledford.

I agree with you that most schools have some kids in the hallways that could help several programs in the school. However, to say the hallways are "crawling" with athletes at Lexington is absurd.

Ok Triad what word would you like me to use or are you just being a smart...?? The fact is Lexington has athletes that probably are not in the best situation at home and that transitions to school. I didn't make a comment about any of the schools you mentioned because it doesn't look like they are struggling at this time. I personally have never rooted for or liked Lexington but I call it like I see it. Lexington and Thomasville both have owed Davidson county in both football and basketball as a whole for the past 30 plus years.

Thomasville middle school football roster started out this year with 47 players. Ended up with 39. We are growing. Finished 2nd in conference this year 7-1 - scoring 234 points allowing around 80. Wins over North and OG by 2 tds or more. Male Athletics at Thomasville are moving in the right direction - basketball 2 year total record is 31-1 outsxoring all opponents last year 981-201 they will be even tougher this year. Wrestling team last year with 27 kids finished 2nd in a tough Davie county conference- looking for around 40 wrestlers this year - soccer also undefeated 2 years in a row, and hey even baseball team won 4 games and that’s more wins in the past three years combined- and since this is a Thomasville Lexington thread - i came back to say that Thomasville middle did beat Lexington middle 30-12 yesterday

What is this... Ledford fans feeling themselves because it took 30 years to field a competitive football team?:D
But anyways both ND and Ledford just moved down from 4A and 3A, they are supposed to have better athletes despite falling short. At least Lexington can say they won 2A championships.

The Lexington community hasn't put a lot of effort into football in the past 15 years. ECU had a good RB from Lexington few years back.

I bet Lexington hasn't beaten Ledford or North 2 or 3 times since the mid 90s. Lexington hasn't been relevant in football since the late 80s. North had some powerhouse 4A teams before they dropped to 2A. I'm really not sure what you're trying to say???

I'm anxious about tonight's game...jump on the yeller jackets early and often,be disciplined no ejections or anything else dumb, because I have the feeling Lexington will try and provoke some things with it being a rivalry and Lexington has nothing to lose...I know the coaches are very aware of this, but anything can happen in the heat of the game...41-14 Dawgs

The word on social media was that a plan was in place to start a fight that would get Thomasville banned from the playoffs. Both staffs are aware.

Wow!! Are you serious...there should be consequences for that garbage...maybe a forfeit...I don't know but that shit is pathetic

OC are you going to the game?

I'll be at ED OG

Until 3 or 4 years ago Ledford was never relevant in football, you guys can't talk.:D ND has had some good teams in 4A, remember they won the conference. However the Metro 4A still ran through Page, Dudley, and Mount Tabor during those years.

Hope that's not true but it wouldn't surprise. Definitely hope the players and coaches don't get caught up in that foolishness.
