Thomasville Bulldog Sam Craven

Please keep Super Fan Sam Craven in your thoughts and prayers. Sam is in ICU at TMC battling the big C.

Last night Coach Rob and Kevan Callicutt delivered the game ball to Sam after the big win over Oak Grove.

Go Dogs!

Is this the man who was on the sidelines at the Thomasville games. If it was he was on the sidelines when I played in the early 70’s.

Sam was class of 1969 and was one heckuva basketball player. Perfected the Earl the Pearl spin when most people were trying to dribble behind their backs without dribbling off their feet.
Sam has always been a diehard Bulldog, watching practices for years. Heart of gold and a friend without reservation.
When I woke up in Forsyth a few years ago after sleeping for a few weeks, one of the first people to just show up at my hospital room door was Sam. Most people kept up with that ordeal through emails to my family or Facebook, but Sam just showed up. Just wanting to see if there was anything he could do.
Prayer may bring Sam back. Or it may help ease his journey. But he needs ours right now. He’s sure got mine.

Sam is a huge Bulldog fan and so committed to watching them play. Prayers to him and the family for recovery and Gods Grace. Sam is Bulldog Nation.

Who is the man that used to be on the sidelines sometimes with a flag if I’m remembering correct. Seems like he was on the sidelines back on the early 70’s when I played against Thomasville.

Warren King. You’ll find him in the middle section next to the aisle at Cushwa. Wearing his letter jacket and coaching from the stands. Warren still carried that flag into his seventies, but has slowed a step or two. He’s by far the best known Bulldog and is recognized by fans throughout the Piedmont from his many appearances on area tv over the past 60 years. There’s a real Facebook page dedicated to raising money for a statue of Warren. We could do worse.

That’s the man. I’d make a donation to something like that. I’ll look it up.
