This time last year.....

I just said, wouldn’t it be cool. I know now and I knew when I posted it it wasn’t going to happen. Most fans would love an extra season every year. If I were a coach and they started a second season I’d personally retire or just flat out quit. In other words, no, I wouldn’t want to sacrifice a coaches time or health.

So you want to sacrifice the rest, recovery, little free time, and health of coaches and players for your personal entertainment?

hmmmmm
I think maybe you took the purpose of this post the wrong way. I was simply trying to bring up the fun and uniqueness we had last year with spring football. Wasn't trying to suggest it should be a thing really.

The coaches I know would love to have spring football in NC the states south of us do. Have a 10-15 day period of full contact spring ball like the colleges do. Not sure that will ever happen with the current leadership in the NCHSAA.

What coach wouldn't want a full spring practice period? My comments were drawn from memories of all the BS that went with a Covid shortened season.

But colleges don't exactly have full contact Fall practice, to help prevent injuries during the season

Does anybody really have full contact practices anymore? Every high school and college coach I’ve talked to says they haven’t in years. By the way, how’d you like that Pro Bowl?😂

You are right OC, no one should be doing anything that will pull kids from other sports. Specialization is a curse.

I'm pretty sure though we were going to be allowed to have 10 days of "organized" practices with unlimited numbers and something less than thud in the spring of 2020. Then Covid happened. Spring of 21 was our Covid season. Unless rules have changed this would be the first spring those new rules could be implemented. Smart coaches will wait until May when most spring sports have wound down so they can get the bulk of their athletes.

Pro Bowl was a joke. If that's what its going to be the NFL needs to eliminate it.

I know some basketball coaches you would like to meet then.
I know a few. Spent fifteen years getting chewed out by some of them. It certainly creates challenges at the “football schools”. But most of them make the best of it. The vast majority of Thomasville’s basketball stars were football players too. But when they pull off the cleats, they’re all in to the hardwood. The way it should be.

I think the moral of this story is it was a cool thing to be a part of (although I do believe we could have played in the fall of 2020 and that's as far as I'm going to go with that) but it's something that those seniors on those teams that played last spring will always remember. Yes as a fan of football it was awesome having two seasons in one year. But I think speaking for the coaches and players, they were exhausted by the time December came around.
