Conference play begins this week with a lot of intrigue as Murphy travels to face Cherokee as GWY trys to pull an even bigger upset this week in the SMC opener....Down in Tigertown, a wounded and angry bunch of Tigers who lost their first game a couple weeks ago, await an equally mad hive of Yellowjackets who lost for the first time last week...Over in Robbinsville this friday, the Black Knights who are well rested will face a confident Wildcat team that won it's 3rd game of the season last week....

1A/2A WHC-2-1A
--------------------------
The Mitchell County Mountaineers(5-0) continued to romp thru their non-conference schedule as they smashed(61-28) their 2nd straight bigger MAC opponent by scoring 60 or more points, beating 3A North Buncombe(61-28) last friday in Ledger....Meanwhile, Avery County(1-4) registered their first win of the season, beating 2A North Wilkes 31-14...In WHC 2A action last friday, Mountain Heritage(4-1) continued their impressive season as the Cougars shutout(14-0) previously unbeaten 3A West Henderson(3-1)...Polk County(2-3) ended a 3-game losing streak with a 36-14 victory over 3A East Henderson...Hendersonville(2-3) couldn't keep up with the potent offensive attack of A.C. Tarboro(5-0) also remains unbeaten as the Vikings edged 3A Southern Nash...This week they will travel to face former conference foe and rival 2A SW Edgecombe(5-0) in a battle of unbeatens...

Wallace Rose Hill(3-1) was Idle last week, while the improving Union Spartans(3-1) won their 3rd straight game in a row, while also recording their 2nd straight shutout, beating Princeton(33-0) on the road...

Whiteville(2-2) was Idle last week, while Carolina Conference member Lakewood(3-2) lost their 2nd straight game to a 2A unbeaten team by the exact same margin(16-14), losing this time to 2A Red Springs(4-0)...

The Panthers of Granville Central(2-2) are the only team from the TRAC that doesn't have a losing record...

great report....Bears have to find a way to score....last 2 games have been a nightmare on offense...no quick fix

If u can't throw down field u can't run. Especially with no speed in back field. I don't know answer.for MA except jv guys coMing up. Skill positions just young and Starting RB being hurt first.game of season didn't help. Back up done good job but no speed. QB play not their but he's just Sophmore. Young team.

Tigertown@Rick,

North Lincoln beat us 47-30. Don't know why maxpreps had it wrong since I put our stats in.
