The Main Question for 2020 Football

This day and age I believe it has calmed down a ton. Stoped around 2000 win at alllll costtttt

It has, especially since school districts will hold coaches accountable because of liability.

As I always say, just because we did something one way 20,30, or 40 years ago, that doesn't make it right to do so now.

As I said win, but you can't win if you're endangering players or not teaching them life lessons. I'd rather my kids finish 5-6 and learn to be men, good human beings, and contributing members of society from a coach that values their health and academics than go 11-0 under a coach that covered for them in the classroom and brushed off injuries such as concussions.

What is so nutty about what I said? Do you want a kid playing with a concussion? Do you want a football coach bullying a teacher into changing a grade, while your kid that struggles with math, barely makes it by?

If so, then you sir, are the nut.

He was referring to me. Again belittling and name calling haha. Just have a conversation

If we play football, does anyone expect any type of mandatory personal protective equipment ? ALL players wearing gloves or full face shields, etc? I know they make helmet face shields to protect the eyes but not sure about full face shields

I think the NFL is looking at full face shields. Not sure how that would work for high school. I'd say those get pricy. So do we require the kid to pay or does the school pay?

Looks like Schutt is offering a full face splace shield for $24.99 for 3. So if you have 60 kids in your program thats $500.

Plus tons of disinfectant.

I agree but also if the NCHSAA comes out and says you have to wear this and that, don't you think they should help out?
They are sitting on a multiple-million dollar endowment fund (who’s purpose, I’m pretty sure, is to help is times of emergency). Several years ago when they required AED’s the state gave assistance to member schools to help buy one. I could see the NCHSAA trying to give some money to each school to help offset an expense like this.

They would have to imo. It's going to cost thousands of dollars to play if we get to. And that's just not football. What about volleyball? Soccer?

For football lets say those shields are required. Idk about gloves, they don't really do anything unless you change them after every interaction you have, and plus football gloves are a different animal.

With that said, I would think you would have to run a new ball in every play, disinfect balls constantly throughout the game. What about disinfecting equipment once a player comes off the field? Such as helmet, gloves, etc.

There is a lot to unwrap here.

I am pretty sure if the NCHSAA & the other states combined could negotiate a much better price on these face shields just by the sheer number of them needed. As the old saying when I was growing up, eggs are cheaper by the dozen but we are talking about thousands of face shields across North Carolina alone. Would anyone think those prices could be cut by 20 to 30% for the huge number needed across the Nation and ramping up the production ?

Thunder has run off a majority of posters that were mainstays on CP. I see he is pretty much having a conversation by himself. If I were running a business dependent upon participation, clicks etc....I may have to show him the door. I was scolded for discussing politics but yet he has kept this going and it's NOTHING but politics. Good job mods..good job.

Yeah and when he issues an veto of the budget it's their job to issue a new one. Instead they packed up and went home and have refused to try.

Unlike you, I am discussing things that relate directly to the state of education in NC, which relates directly to sports. Stop your whining.

With that said, for the first time in years, this is no longer a dead week, but man if it won't be miserably hot. 105 heat index today in some places.

Now on to Fake News

So according to state guidelines, school buses will be allowed to only have 1 student per seat, which is around 24 on the average bus. One can assume athletics will be held to the same standard if restrictions are still in place if athletics are allowed to start.

So what does a team with 50 kids do and 20 cheer leaders? Take 3 buses? That gets pricy. I know sometimes schools do that but not all districts have that bus capability for all schools. What about 2 buses for cross country and volleyball?

I think south robeson was ro esonville back in the day. If so, they beat us in a state title game yrs ago.

No, Robersonville High became Roanoke High, which is modern day South Creek High.

South Robeson use to be Rowland and I assume they consolidated with another school(s) to become South Robeson.

Cherokee going all online. Not sure how that will play out with sports.

I saw they had some cases yesterday at the casino. Wonder if they'll lock things down.

With that said, unfortunately I see no way to do athletics if you're virtual. How can you look at parents and say, "it's not safe enough for your kid to be at school, but it's safe enough for sports?"
Many parents already feel athletics is valued over academics. That's the last battle a school board wants right now. Especially with so many advocating to be back in school buildings.

Mixed with the fact some kids would have a hard time getting to practice and games.
