Might aswell get this one started....Four County Conference Championship will be determined at the Dogpound it will be standing room only.......two very good teams two very good coaches safe to say this is the biggest game in the state come Friday.......To get things started ima say this i know what happened last time we went down to the Dogpound in 2014 and won 35-7....i just dont see it being that type of game again....i dont see a blowout either way.....these are two very good defensive teams....its gonna be hard hitting 3 yards in a cloud of dust grind it out type game....ill be surprised if either team scores above 20.....just my opinion....look for a big special teams play,field position,or a turnover to be a difference maker both teams have very good kickers could come down to field goals.....my early prediction Clinton 13 WRH 10....im sure this game is going to be a instant classic.....whats everyone think???

This is the game you circle on the schedule every year. Two really good teams who will know just how good they are come next friday night. Should be a good one.
 
This is as good as it gets. I was not impressed as much with Clintons " O " line as they are. I still stand by 2014 was better. I think the dogs are capable of getting to the ball at or behind the line of scrimmage, often. I think Clinton defense can also. As long as QB doesn't throw #4's way, we should be fine. 24-21 Dogs
 
I think Clinton is the better team and will win by 10 but I wouldn't be surprised either way. Wallace is tough and well coached.

We really had no business losing to WRH, self destructed inside the 20 too many times and gave up a pick 6... I have a feeling the game would be different if the two teams met again but that's neither here nor there... just hypotheticals.
 
I thought WRH had to many penalties that helped keep that game closer. Had to win it late. ED could beat WRH a on a given night. Just not this year. Hope ED gets the chance to beat Clinton

Domt throw it #2's way he has 7 ints this year and plays QB
 
And also Dogs79 you have to watch this team more than once hard to jusge off one game....watched them all year this is the best overall complete team Clinton has had since 2001-2002 as far as offense/defense.....by far one of the best defenses Clinton has fielded since those dominate teams in the mid 90's....offensively the backfield is probably the deepest its ever been literally 6-7 guys can carry the ball and score.....if you plan on primary keying on Skinner.....#2,#5,3,40,4,26,23 all can hurt you.....Lewis could literally sub a different back in each play if he wanted too and the offense would not miss a beat

I'd say best team since the 1997-1998 seasons and I recognize we've had 2 state championships during that span, ms son played on the 2005 championship but this team is strong at every position, very versatile and very deep
 
In my opinion this young Clinton team has not proved me anything yet. The 2014 team I would say is better than 2016. This years squad is good do not get me wrong but who have they beaten to prove us Clinton fans they have done anything? Northside? No they were weak to me. Hoggard? Solid 4A program and beat us last year but honestly that game should've never been close and should've been a lot like this years game at Clinton. The list goes on and on but until this Clinton team can prove itself against a Bunn or East Duplin or a WRH caliber team this is just the same beat but different year: run through the regular season and trip up late in the playoffs. Competition is not as stiff East as it is West I get that but us Clinton fans need to hold the horses before going and comparing this team to some of the great ones Clinton has had to get and finish the deal off. Yet, let this team get to the postseason undefeated and appear and win a state title then this 2016 team could enter the conversation but until then this team still has a lot to prove to me
 
I agree 1234, I'm not ready to say the best in 20 years yet, but they have all the tools to be so. Obviously the 2014 team was very good to get to the sc game but honestly offensively they were the Rayheem Skinner show. This 2016 team is much more versatile and athletic and we still have Skinner. Defensively they are very very good at every position . Even in the great years the DarkHorse pass defense was sometimes suspect. This year the Horses are very likely to take the ball themselves. But I agree, it's much to early to crown or characterize anybody with anything but you gotta look at the potential!!!!!
 
That d line of Wallace will be out manned by the horses. This Clinton team has several axes to grind for the rest of the year. Clinton 33-7
 
If this Clinton team is as good as some of these posters has been saying all year then Clinton should win by 3 or 4 touchdowns. Probably not going to happen. Probably close game that comes down to who makes fewer mistakes. If Clinton does hats off to them

I agree to early to jump the gun and compare them to teams that have actually won titles but they certainly have all the tools to do so......will it happen???stay tuned....I plan on being there early its gonna be standing room only for sure
 
By the numbers two very evenly matched teams

Clinton: scored 405 points while giving up only 42 with 4 shutouts

PPG 45 Points allowed 4.67

Wallace: scored 350 while giving up 53 with 4 shutouts

PPG 38.9 Points allowed 5.89
 
This will be one of the top games in the state next Friday, regardless of classification. Two of the stingiest defenses in the state along with two of the most potent offenses. It's always difficult to go down to the Dog Pound and walk away with a victory, but it has been done before. Some see this as a defensive battle, but I think with Clinton's depth at the running back position will wear down the Bulldog defense.....Clinton 28, W-RH 7.

oldesy55, they are that good. Been following DarkHorse football a longtime. This is one of their better Teams.

FOOTBALLFANTIC, I agree and I would rather play the dogs at the dogpound!.i don't see anyone putting up any big numbers on this DarkHorse defense. We all talk about the offense but this DarkHorse defense is really good
 
Well wiz they should win easily then because this is a good Wallace team not one of their great ones. Time will tell
 
Last years game Clinton really shot ourselves in the foot in that 28-14 lost....alot of penalties i remember twice at crucial times getting flagged for 12 men on the field and the big one was the illegal procedure penalty on the QB sneak TD which would of made it a one score game late then immediately following that 2 fumbles on center QB exchange.....and a wide open touchdown pass drop the following drive......come Friday whoever makes the less mistakes wins
 
Also i would expect a huggggge dose of big #40 Jaylen Smith no pun intended......heard the ankle is fine he had a entire week of rest and will be good to go against Wallace

I agree, I don't think they've seen a FB like Mr. Smith this year. Watch for him to wear the defense down in the 3rd and 4th quarters. I don't care how strong you are, constantly being pounded by a 254 lb FB will weigh heavy on ya(pun intended).
 
Defensively its a typical Wallace team very stout....offensively their biggest weapon is Aliza Carter #5 the QB running and throwing the ball just dont have that marquee ball carrier they have had in the past they have some guys that can run with it but i dont see any gamebreakers like Glaspie and Cannady......we got some ball hawks mainly Kris Williams waiting for those passes.....i see us using Kramer or even Skinner to "spy" Carter on those QB runs
 
Clinton you better win. I'm picking you guys to win 2AA state this year. If Shelby and Lincolnton stay 2A this year, 2AA west is weaker than usual with Monroe, East Lincoln, and Franklin down. Monroe will still be good but lost an excellent SR QB for the season. West Caldwell and Maiden are pretty good but this side is not what it usually is. You will either be facing Monroe or one of 3 SD7 teams.

Looks like Bunn and East Duplin will be tough on the east side. I think Northeastern is going 2A?
 
I totally agree with allabouthebiz20. I know I'm going to get killed for saying this, but some of Clinton fans beat there chest and like to play bully. Listen to this! The dogs will not be intimidated and the darkhorses will not out physical the dogs defense like 2014. Clinton may win, but before you can say this is one of the best teams ever ,you have to finish the season. If the Darkhorses loose this game , I expect there will be excuses , just like last year. I hope Shelby beats ya'lls @$$ again this year or better yet someone from the east. I remember in 94 both teams were 7-0 and Clinton came to to the pound and looked like they were the dominant team and later in the playoffs the script was flipped. Ah! turnovers, injuries, excuses. Excuses from last year. Does not matter, a win is a win and a loss is a loss. Can't believe I was even giving excuses for Clinton losing to Shelby in 2014. I will not ever again.
 
every fan base has the diehards,trash talkers,etc etc have you been on some of the other threads and listen to some of the western posters???.........if we lose we lose does not mean the seasons over same goes for Wallace i expect both teams to be playing in December

Dogs79 kinda sounds like you just have a problem with Clinton period.....being from Clinton im not overly fond of Wallace but i respect them if we are not playing em i usually root for the Dogs being from the same conference in all....rooted for em in the title game last year against Mitchell...."I hope Shelby beats yalls @$$ again" yeah its some deep rooted hate right there buddy......but i guess thats why its a rivalry not all fans are built the same
 
What Coach Price has done at Wallace since 2009 is very similar to what Lewis did at Clinton in the 90s

Guess it's easy to get me fired up. I always pull for Clinton unless they play Duplin Co. schools. And I do have respect for your thoughts and others. When I feel WRH is not respected, well I feel they have earned it in this rivalry.
 
Have fun winning your little 1A championships. Not only will you get yours next week but next year when you actually step up and play big boy football with all 28 on your roster.

Like i said what Coach Price has done since coming to Wallace is pretty much What Coach Lewis did in the 90s.....despite whatever any poster up here says Bob Lewis & company are preparing for this game like its a State Title game no one is overlooking WRH.....everyone has there own opinion..... i for one think this is going to be a dogfight down to the last second.....
 
I expect WRH, they will win the 1AA title again this year. That being said I don't think they will beat the DarkHorses this year. Not looking past them. They will be the best team the DarkHorses have played thus far this year. That statement also applies to WRH. Yes it could be like 2014 again but I think it'll be 3 TD'S straight up. Multiple turnovers either way and anything can happen. The thing is this win or lose both Clinton and WRH need this game in preparation for the playoffs since conference play didn't exactly do so. Good Luck
