The Best Player in the State

I tried to tell you differently. I saw him every week. You weren't having it. I also heard he is not a rb yadayadayada blah blah blah but he is and a dang good one that the North Carolina schools let get away. Partially because of these so called all star games leaving the stars out thus failing the state by limiting players like Jager and Rico exposure.

You saw him play every week and his opponents.

Do you think that the Big 4 and ECU or other major colleges offer based on Shrine Bowl selections? They already have the seniors lined up to offer by that time. A small school player may get some offers from a D2 but the ones that are FBS and FCS quality are already being looked at heavily.

The most loaded position last year was d line followed by running back. Frasier and Gallaspy now at NC State along with Reid now at Wake were the selected backs. My thought would have been to use him as an athlete/utility player.

I live in Cleveland county and i'm telling you if Rico doesn't get hurt Crest won't have a
chance. Do forget about TJ Logan. AC REYNOLDS has a good run defense

What a terrible and uneducated post. First of all his name is AJ Logan and he just went over 1,000 yards last week for the season. Crest is on a 26 game winning streak, to imply they won't have a chance unless dowdle gets hurt is one of the dumbest things I've ever heard. WITH dowdle playing crest will be the favorite. If dowdle didnt play against crest for some reason, Reynolds would likely lose by 28.

Temple hadn't offered him until very late and that's where he went. He had prior offers from Akron Virginia and Georgia Southern. The Shrine Bowl could have brought more interest from the in state schools.

I'll be honest, I didn't think Jager projected as a runningback at the collegiate level either. I saw him either transitioning to wide receiver or playing on the other side of the ball because you simply don't see very many 6'2 runningbacks (at any level) especially those that are as slender as Jager was/is. I've got to give you props for calling that 98.

With that said, I'm still not so sure that he wouldn't be an even better safety than a college runningback. I still think he's a little bit too much of an upright runner at his height, but obviously Coach Rhule and the Temple staff like what he's done at RB enough to keep him there for the time being.

Safety or outside linebacker would also be good positions for him but part of why he went to Temple was because they recruited him at rb.

I will say Eric Dickerson and Eddie George at 6'3 each were both big running backs at SMU and Ohio State respectively, and slender ones as well. Also the starting rb this season for the Pittsburg Panthers is 6'2. These are just a few examples. I don't have the time to research it out to provide more examples but it's not unheard of to be a big back like Jager is. Trust me that kid is tuff and can take the demanding pounding that the rb position requires.

Yeah, George was 235 as a pro but he was still 220+ in college. It's the same with some of the other 6'2 (or more) backs I can think of. Bradon Jacobs (245+) Steven Jackson (225+) and Adrian Peterson (220+) were good sized backs even in college.

The point I was trying to illustrate was that you rarely see 6'2/6'3 backs, and when you do they are typically much thicker than what Jager was in high school or as a first year collegian. The young man couldn't have been over 195 at Owen.

That doesn't mean he can't or won't add weight and strength at Temple, because I'm sure he will. Just how much though will probably decide whether or not he stays at runningback long term. Anyway, best of luck to Jager at Temple

He is over 205 now. Look at George's pictures in college or watch film and he looks very slender. Pads at that time where more bulky so you have to look at body not pads. He is also 1 to 2 inches taller than Jager depending on what listing you see. Watching highlights from his final collegiate season they say he is 6 4 but who knows. Jager never has worn bulky padding. So his slenderness is magnified in my opinion. He is ripped and much bigger in person than he appears in photos and film and such. Not saying he is massive. 205 tells you what he is but nothing but muscle.

Chazz Surratt is an absolute stud, but he faces weak opposition, the conference that he plays in is beyond weak.

SMAC is weak too, brother. Crest and Shelby are unreal. KM is good for a change. But if you take Crest and Shelby out, SMAC is just as weak. Lincolnton and Maiden would beat any team in that conference other than Crest and Shelby. They are numbers 2 and 3 in the SD7.

Jarique Moore from Fairmont wide receiver currently holding 1,494 yards. Puts him at second place in State and 17th place in the nation.

1st place in state is Sage Surrat, East Lincoln 1,558 yards
