My son sent me a screenshot of Kendric Burney Instagram page. Said he is coming home to coach at the corral. In what form I'm not sure, let's hope this is true. He can only help the SWO community and football team. Thanks in advance Kendric for your time with these kids....

Yeah finally it took the community calling Southwest out for not having any black coaches. Now they wanna bring Burney to put out the dumpster fire. I went to school with his dad. Great family I love the Burney’s. Don’t let them use you nephew.
About time someone calling it like it is. I've been getting destroyed on these boards for saying the same thing. Dempsey is responsible for this dumpster fire period. Tommy Barnes was the best thing behind Phil to ever happen to SWO. Was a player at a high level and could relate to this young black men. Burney will as well but think wayyyyyy to late in the game to save this
Exactly It didn’t take a year for things to get to this point. It’s going to take more than a year to get things back on track. First thing they need to get to the root of the problem. I am sure we can agree that the problem starts at the top. I get so sick of hearing a bunch of excuses. Let’s be honest Charlie Dumb-psey is not the answer.
I agree with you 100% KB is a solid young man. I love the Burney’s he comes from a good family.
A little to late to be honest. He's been trying to get on the sidelines for years and Dempsey didn't want anything to do with him. Now all the sudden he brings him aboard. Trying to save face.
When KB was coaching at White Oak. He told me Southwest is where he wanted to be. It’s never too late for KB to make a difference. It’s going to take sometime.
He wanted the job when they hired Dempsey..... He would have brought a level of heart and soul to the program and be able to reach these boys. Dempsey has failed
I didn’t know he wanted the head Coach job. Just imagine the staff KB would’ve had. The whole community would’ve been behind KB too. KB would’ve won a state championship by now. Especially with some of the talent that came through Sw.
Yea supposedly he was final him an Dempsey. But they have Dempsey and that's why KB went with Leary to WO. Could have been totally different outcome years ago
I saw on Facebook they retiring KB jersey. Honestly I think they need to retire Richard Koonce also he played for the Pittsburgh Steelers. A lot of players such as Richard and KB should’ve had their jersey retired along time ago. Swo got some people with their jersey retired for no reason at all. I guess because they know how to cook a pizza😂
I didn't see that, but congrats to Burney. Koonce was a monster as well. Both should have been retired long ago.

OK Let's make something bad out of hiring the best football player Onslow County has seen for the past 50 years! It couldn't be that he was hired to help teach Running Backs, QB's, & Defensive Backs? Kendrick was hired to help make SW Onslow better. Maybe they (SW) will get lucky and win at least one football game this fall! When you drive down 53 past the high school this summer, and you sense that buzz in the air at the corral, don't worry it will not be that stallion energy, and that SW is working, or preparing, or grinding. It's probably just a bumble bee that flew in your window!!!!! Crow gonna be tasty for some of you keyboard champs!
Your a joke only buzz going to come off 53 is the flies from that product they put on the field every year. What energy kids are leaving the program left and right. My grandson been going to workouts out there he said your running backs fumbling the ball. Doing non-contact drills, are you serious? Wait to they start getting hit by East Duplin, Jacksonville, JH-Rose, WRH and Kinston. I agree KB is great person and athlete. My question to you sir what took so long to retire his jersey? Maybe because he chose White Oak instead of SWO first? Why?

🤡 Boy sign off and never come back here. Why take so long to hire Burney? He wanted the job as soon as his NFL career was over, Foster and Dempsey didn't want him around the program. Now out of the blue they want him. No to use his name to get folks in the stands. Shit the stands been half full for five years. I go to every game for 27 years. I know what's going on 🤡 boy. I've told you this, put the bottle down and come back to earth. SWO can work all they want, their best athletes left the building lol. Ive heard they brought back RB White, who is a solid kid and athlete. Bannerman is still there but Dempsey won't play the boy. They gonna use the terrible white QB non athletic as my grandma and get used and abused. Nothing will be buzzing in SWO lol. Hasn't been in 6 years clown 🤡.
The clown is Dempsey hiding behind the keyboard. They will use KB to get folks in the stands period. Pushing out their best athletes left and right. Shit Big Mr Green wouldn't even allow his youngest son to go to SWO after Big Derek Green left cause he saw the writing on the wall. When old stallions are pulling their kids from SWO you know something ain't right. Hasn't been for years. Their product will be even worse this year. Sad to see

Don’t want to bash coach, kids, or community but the community always should support these kids. Especially in tough times. I don’t like kids in general transferring to a “better” opportunity. I’ll give Kerr and his father credit for making their decision based on his hard working potential. No problem with that. From my experience with tough times , most people work through those times and grow from it. The SW community should support the school. From what I’m hearing on here, it’s a very negative environment and I think we need to put the kids first and create positive,hard working environment with reinforcements and accountability
This got nothing to do with the kids. This has been going for last six years, Dempsey and his guys he hires are the problem period. Dempsey is a good ol boy so he gets a pass from all the high ups. I've been saying this for years. Kids never left SWO for football period. They are leaving left and right now. Problem isn't hard to see or recognize.....
SWO needs to take inventory of football program. Revisit their values, goals, and create a plan moving forward.
I agree with you it’s not all the kids, In all fairness it’s not all coaches. It’s a combination of both to be honest. Times has changed nothing remains the same. With that being said you must change with the times. I know a lot of the kids that’s been part of the program the last 10 years. Everyone don’t raise their kids the same. All coaches don’t look at the game of football the same. With all that being said you must have kids that buy into your Philosophy. These kids not stupid they know when a coach care about them. They also can see when one doesn’t. The difference is that coach that kids know care about them they are willing to go to war with.
You hit it on the head brother. When you can't relate to the boys, then ask them to run through the wall. It won't work. Philly would go to war for all his boys on and off the field. Dempsey not even close to that. He can't relate to these kids. Growing up with nothing, single moms raisin alot of them. They need a father figure, Dempsey sure ain't even close. I walked in these kids shoes I know this first hand. It won't change period with Dempsey at the helm.
You just Joined this week, we have no problem with some trash talking, but it will not contain vulgarity and putting down players and coaches. If you would like to make it to week 2, you will adhere to this.
