Sway Needs answers!

Speaking with a good friend of mines yesterday who's a coach told me that the former coach from Mallard Creek (Who turned the program around) interviewed for the Albemarle HC job...but was turned down. Is this true???

Mallard Creek has had only one head coach and that's Mike Palmieri. I doubt that he would interview for that job. It may have been an assistant. I do know that Tripp Stone's (Mallard Creek's DC) father interview for the job (Russell Stone).

Yes, I remember Mr. Stone interviewing...and we all know how that went. But he could have been talking about an assistant coach from Mallard...if his statement was true.

He was an assistant at MC, who was then HC at Hopewell. He is now at West Rowan.
There was an issue right or wrong that some counties would not overlook.

I speak from experience.............it can be painful to pass on a Stone......my advice would be to drink plenty of water!!!!

Kevin, I would gladly commend any effort or coaching that I see. I believe that Bilicheck would lose games but we would be very competitive. That's all I want to see is a competitive team. I am very impressed how the fans have handled this catastrophic season. Me, not so much. It breaks my heart.

Charlie Gregory. MC's struggles at OL may be partly due to him being home last two years.

Think MC's first year was 2007.

It means some counties ( Meck, Cab, Stanly ) would not hire him because of an issue. Some other counties had no problem with it.

I have heard we let a few good men get away in the hiring process. I cant confirm but I have heard from a very reliable source. I still cant believe we hired our second NS coach in a row and this one had a worse record than the last. He took a NS team that returned 17 starters and got embarrassed by all the county teams. He was then let go after 2 or 3 seasons from NS. To say the least I am not impressed so far.

Bill Belichick, Bear Bryant, or Nick Saban would not be competitive playing small, inexperienced 9th and 10th graders against the Concords and East Montgomerys we have played. And don't forget, we were actually playing tit for tat early in the game against Chatham, but our lack of size and depth caught up with us.

Dang, Susan. Did Jim Mason dump you at the altar or something? You never miss a chance to remind everyone that he did not fare well at North Stanly. Do you realize how toxic the NSHS situation was when he came into it? Every daddy with a voice spent all their spare time telling the coach of the day how it was supposed to be done, and the coaches got NO backing from the administration. AHS has a pretty experienced coaching staff this year--every coach there has been part of successful programs--and players who want to play and learn the game. However, it is going to take some time to build these "young 'uns" into football players. And don't forget, quite a few experienced athletes who would have been our team leaders this year flew the AHS coop in 2015 thanks to open enrollment. Eliminate that and AHS has the athletes this year to compete...and even then not at the level of the Gaster years.

We still had a good program but maybe dropping at the time. Coach Stone could have made a difference. Around here We say Bill Belicheck (who)
