Coming into the year I thought this would be a very good game, now I give a big advantage to Surry Central. They have experience and seem to be playing well. This East Wilkes team is going to be good, but right now they are young and injured. I think the East D will keep it close, however I am picking the Eagles to pull away in the end by 10 - 14.

Just curious Realfreedom if that is based off you seeing EW or if its based off seeing EW and knowing SC beat ES?

I'm not saying you are wrong, I'm just curious because ES is known to be down this year..

I am not taking anything away from SC's nice win either, anytime you beat Coach Diamont and the Cardinals you've done something.

I'm not going to make any predictions because I haven't seen EW, but Surry Central is solid. East Surry made a bunch of mistakes in that game--they seemed to commit a penalty every time they had something going--but even if they hadn't done that, Central still would have won the game. A team with that many seniors is tough enough to beat as it is without helping them out.

East Surry will get better. Most of what they did wrong is correctable, and Diamont and his staff will make sure that it gets corrected.

I want to say that this game could be a toss up. My heart pulls for dem Red Birds. No, they didn't look like a top 13 (1a) team in the state,( per nc preps pre-season poll), but their defense played well. Everyone knows the old cliche "defense wins championships." This is true, however your offense can't be anemic, and place the defense in dire straits every possession either. Im gonna go with East Wilkes in a nail biter. East won last week against a determined South Stokes squad, that really looked the athletic part. Surry Central has senior-laden experience, not to mention speed. East Wilkes has a new attitude and a few "young" weapons of their own. Hopefully, East won't look back at this past Friday's close win as a flop, since they didnt cover Simmons spread of 50+ points, but as a much deserved win against a determined foe, looking spoil the party. GO CARDS!!!

I saw the East at South game. By no means is South a push over. They will win ballgames this year, they just need to believe.

I have not seen SC play, just going by reports of senior experience. I also remember that they had talent last year.

IMO East is young and not at full strength in the trenches. On D I believe East has a great back 7. East will have a really good year, I just believe Friday night will be tough.

Also seeing the EW vs S. Stokes game I believe EW's defense will keep them in the game and give them a chance to win. Going against the 20 plus seniors of SC will be tough. Although EW lost quite a few from last years team that beat Swain County by 2 TDs in the 3rd round the ones that have returned are battle tested more than the SC seniors.

S Stokes is a lot better this year. Still don't see them winning more that 2-4 games this season but they are young and they have some nice pieces, especially on defense that I believe will be very successful when they move back down to 1A next season.

Main point is I would not sale EW out just based on their performance against South Stokes this past Friday. They surely have to get a lot more polished offensively but they certainly have more returning players who can say "been there done that" than Surry central. Gonna be an interesting "GOW". I should had known Slasher would have picked that as the game of the week. . Best of luck to both teams!!!

Fun game to watch. Sloppy officials, both ways. SC scores late for the win. East Wilkes is playing hot potato with the football.

A ton to improve in the off week.

Sloppy play by EW. You can barely win a ball game with 1 or 2 turnovers not to mention 6 in which SC capatalized off of 2 of those. 4 fumbles at the Center/QB exchange. I heard the Center for EW is out with a torn ACL. Not sure how much truth to that. However something is definitely not clicking right there. Other than the turnovers another solid outing again by the EW D, bailed them out several times after the turnovers. SC is definitely a solid football team. Good luck to them the remainder of the season. With the bye week coming up, I think EW definitely has some time to rethink and/or practice this C/QB trouble.

Last night's center was different than the week before. I liked running out of the gun and then we went away from it.

Yes turnovers are killing us. No reason for them.

Overall, great game. Some sloppiness by both teams. I do believe that with the 6 or 7 turnovers for E.W that it is a testament to their defense that E.W. still could have put the game away to go up by 12 or 14. You could literally see the EW defense getting worn down by the continuance of mishaps by the EW offense, which was once again riddled with bad center/qb exchanges. The defense can only save you for so long, when the offense isnt on the field for more than 2/3 min at a time due to fumbling the snap. Come on Cards get it together. Every team has injuries. You have a huge roster for a school that size. With all the summer workouts, surely some back ups have been groomed to step in and be the next man up. You can be a pretty good team, its evident. But its more to winning than big rosters. It takes cohesiveness. Right now, I see it for the defense. The offense, not so much.
