Statesville vs SP

Any update on #60? I sure hope he is okay. Toby, imho, epitomizes Red Raider football.

Lol SP gave away 2012 game. Besides the refs cheating Statesville took 3 knees at the yard line instead of scoring. Statesville literally dominated the game. Refs made it much closer and Statesville coaches decided not to score at the 2. Lol come on man stop with the non sense and call the game how it really went

Yeah I call a spade a spade. Statesville did handle SP in that game in 2012 - no question. The refs thing I don't agree with at all. We got away with one or two, and I saw the same from Statesville's side. What I remember is a NT that dominated our center and the middle. A LB who had great touch throwing the ball, and embarrassing our safeties all night long. He threw about 200 digs underneath our FS and he would come up and miss a tackle and Statesville would run for another 10 yards. I thought yall's staff did a good job of recognizing a weakness that not many other teams did for a few years against our defense.
I do recall yall's staff sitting on the ball late as well. It is what it is- Statesville clearly won that game in 2012. It's a new year though, and we'll see how it goes.

Agree with this. I know he didn't even grow up in Belmont, but we had a long run playing our aszes off with guys just like him. Long before terrible conference teams to play and overhyped players, there were SP teams of guys similar to him that earned respect through giving their all against most odds. I hope we can get back to that soon, but I fear it may be gone.

South Point, Freedom, Statesville, Kings Mountain, West Rowan; Who has the Heart?

Damn right, it is a question of will! Will you execute? Will you stay disciplined? Will you play as a team? Above all, will you have the heart of a champion? Again, you have 4 weeks to have no regrets for a lifetime!

This might be my Friday game. Champ and Seadog let me know if you are going.
P

Gonna miss this one, GDG. Young seadog is playing in SC. Hate that I won't get the chance to meet champ, blazer and the rest of the hound posters. I'd buy them a hotdog and then send their losing asses home! :)

Watched more film on Statesville. Impressive team. Would blow Cuthbertson out out the stadium. Looking forward to seeing the Greyhounds on Friday night. Ramseur is special, but he is not all of that team. SP to have their hands full on Friday night. Crest wins in a cakewalk against a very incomplete C team.

Very little activity on this thread. I guess I can understand it. Talking trash last time sure didn't help.

Two questions, is Ramseur playing and what is up with my fellow Hokie, Carlis Parker?

Unfortunately imma be in Shelby. Got to see if Crest is good as their following claims. I've seen ACR, Statesville, South Iredell.

Tre will be playing tomorrow. This is the first time in over a month Statesville is finally healthy

This should be a tough game tomorrow night. Having watched a lot of film on Statesville, they are a solid team with several excellent skill players. Have heard that Ramseur is OK and that is huge for the Hounds. That kid is a great HS player. SP brings their A game and I like their chances, but this will not be easy.

Plain and simple if Statesville plays their A game. They win going away. Statesville has the advantage in size and speed. If they play like the did against South I honestly see them winning by 14

Champ24, every team we play is bigger then us. It's been like that since I was a kid. Size don't matter to the Red Raiders. This team has came together this year. We throw the ball a little more this year. I see Sp winning 35 to 21

My prediction will focus more around one thing I know will happen: Statesville will have at least 100 yards in penalties. Teams like they have TYPICALLY are a little careless. We will see.
Either way- I think they've had a similar road as SP. Played 2-3 really good teams, and the rest of the teams were basically JV teams. So...It's a toss up but given I think Statesville will lose the penalty game, and we're playing at home....SP 35, Statesville 33

If the refs at SP are anything close to the ones in 2012. Statesville not beating them and the refs again. Heard a few ppl complain about refs at Sp. Do you get home calls as bad as freedom?

Wow. Just crest and Shelby fans cry about it. LOL. Bad calls on both sides in 2012. We couldn't hold on to the ball in 2012 that's what beat us.

No a much better team of players and better coaching/execution beat us in 2012.

That said...Statesville could be the poster child for so many other programs that walk that line of playing out of control/stupid at times. If teaching aggressive play is part of the plan- that's great. But, you often see it in College and HS where those same teams carry the most penalty yardage due to philosophy and (lack of) discipline.
We have a couple teams in our conference called Ashbrook and HH who have this problem. Nobody's fault but their own. Not refs, not anybody but their staff and players. They refuse to follow rules, and it hurts them.

Champ- yall will have the advantage in speed not because you are or are not fast....but because SP isn't fast. Not many years in the last decade has SP not been a fast team despite what is said on these boards over and over. People see a color arm dangling from those shoulder pads and make stupid assumptions. You don't have the winning percentage and beatdowns of some solid programs like Crest over the last decade with slow teams. *Yall weren't faster than SP in 2012. You had a better gameplan though. You take #75 (or whatever the NT number was) off that field and yall lose....due to our team's speed.

Also- I'd be surprised if you are much bigger than we are. Our OL/DL isn't small at all. Our LBers are decent size. We have tall receivers. Whether any of them are utilized is another question. But, we are unusually slow this year - for sure.

Statesville has a couple good athletes as usual I'm sure-the rest of their team probably LOOKS like the good athletes but don't play like them.

We have not played anybody this year except *crest and Shelby so this game scares me a little bit. Don't know how tough a team we really have. WC sucked out loud despite some protestations heard on here otherwise. That team has won 2 or 3 games the whole year and is our third toughest game? I know they play in a tough conference but 6-7 teams on their schedule aren't real tough.

Looks like Statesville is in similar situation. Lost to 2 out of the 3 teams that were decent, and ran through the rest of those pansy teams like a knife through warm butter. So, I too agree the game will be close. I'd guess it'll be lower scoring though - around SP 28 Statesville 24.
Sasha - go make me a sandwich with lettuce, tomato and love -- pronto.

I’m begrudgingly coming to Belmont to watch the Raiders and Greyhounds and most likely a SP win…since my dang Warriors let me down, again!
I am trying to finish my paperwork duties this afternoon. I have plans to attend. I will be the handsome guy smoking out the kids mothers. Come say hello at halftime. I will be sitting with Coondog since he sits at top and his momma like me told his hand.

Statesville...... 7 - HALF

SP had an opportunity to put more points on the board with 1:19 left in the half. Safety Max Mead picked off a pass and got to the Statesville 1; however, a block in the back penalty brought the ball back to the SP 38.
