SV travels to wilmington Friday after their impressive comeback against Ragsdale. SV trailed 21-0 in the first half but fought back to take a 3 point lead with 40 secs left. Ragsdale got down to the 10 but missed the game tying FG. Hoggard is looking to make a deep run again in the playoffs and it begins for them this Friday night.

don’t think SV will be a push over here, they have played some pretty good teams,
have s win over cape fear ( i do think their qb was out though)

That is correct. CF played with a freshman QB. SV had 225 total yards and won that game.

Port...your one of the best posters on here and keep it to football talk. Best of luck to Hoggard. I think you beat SV.

I appreciate that. If all the NB posters weren't gone they may disagree with you. LOL

If South View get down 21-0 to Hoggard, it will be turn out the lights the party is over!!!! I;m take the Vikings 35-13

I guess when you say you don't know what
you got you may not. Simmons has SOS
at #69 of 77 4a teams and that includes the
NH game. But Hoggard handled them so easy,
See you in Pate for the East Final....

I agree. Holly Springs had been a solid team to play the past 3 seasons but they were way down this year. Car Forest kinda the same deal. Orange has been killed with injuries. Looking forward to Friday night to see how the Vikes respond after a week off and coming off that big win. Last year Hoggard took things up a level in the playoffs and they will need to do the same this year.

SV may struggle throwing downfield on Hoggard. Over half of their receptions by WR go to one guy and he will have a very good CB on him. Kemp is big. long and physical and will take that challenge. SV is very big up front and avg about 40 carries per game. Hoggards run defense has been very good. They give up less than 100 per game, and 6.5 points per game. The big question for SV is their defense, can they slow down Hoggard. SV def is giving up 24 points per game and 30 ppg against 4A teams.

Lets take care of the Falcons first!!!!!!

At this time of the year it's all about matchups. You say SV is very big up front so has Hoggard played anyone with size? I will be quick to say that SV will have to score a lot to have a chance. What I believe Hoggard does really well is spread the ball around so you never can concentrate on stopping one phase of the game. But, and it's a BIG BUT, if they can shadow/pressure Jones with a spy on defense to always have him wondering where the pressure is coming from it could disrupt the offensive flow enough for them to hang tough. Teams will start getting better game video to scout now that it's getting serious. Hoggard by 3 scores.

Jones can run for sure but Hoggard is fine with him throwing it. He will be hard to shadow with a LB and if the LB stays close to the LOS he will throw right over him. Thats what make Jones so hard to defend, he can truly beat you with his arm or his legs.

After witnessing last year's performance against Cape Fear, I wouldn't overlook anyone!

I wasn't impressed with 71st performance last week. They played like a team that wasn't looking forward to playing SC the next week.
what happens from week to week is irrelevant these are kids and all it takes is a new pretty girls smiling at them and there goes their focus or just looking at a teams record. Last year WF struggled with Laney and then steamrolled their way to a championship. If it is a pattern i give it some credence one game good luck with that.

I hear ya but there are matchups too. Laney and WF were mirror images of each other last year. The ran the same offense and both had great defenses. 71st doesn't match up to stop SC run attack and not many schools do. They still have to play the game and anything can happen but 71st may have played about as well as they can the 1st meeting.

Oh they might have the same scheme and Laney did play good defense but you will fail to convince me that the talent and the fact that Laney was a lower seed with some significant losses didn't factor in. As I recall Laney was one of the worst scoring teams in playoffs. Yes match-ups matter but also football is a game of momentum and mental preparedness and if you come in with lack of focus it can be a death nail!

I will not argue that.

SV is a BIG team. They played hard the whole game. Congrats on a great season for them. Hoggard offense is playing at a different level than SV defense was able to play. Hoggard did whatever they wanted to do. SV had 1 good drive on the Vikes and scored. Their second score was on a 96 yards KO return for a TD. Their third score came late on the reserves. Hoggard ran for over 300 yards and passed for 188 and 5 TDs. Looking forward to next week as Heritage comes to the Port City for what should be a great game.

Business is about to pick-up for Hoggard that is for sure SV was a good team but defensively they were no match for Hoggard.

Hoggard was scoring so fast that the Hoggard defense was on the field most of the first half. That big team will wear on you.
