I’m gonna list my picks in order of easiest to toughest games to judge. My opinion only!
1. 12 seed West Lincoln rolls over 5 seed Ashe County.
Ashe county is the leading passing team and West Lincoln is the leading rushing team in the 2aa West bracket! However.....Ashe County was crushed by Avery County, Draughn mashed Avery, West Lincoln walked over Draughn! West will be so amped up to win their first ever playoff game and I see Bridges and Pendergrass running with vengeance and fury!!! Nuff said!
2. Gotta go with 6 seed Burns over 11 seed East Lincoln.
Even if the inconsistent East Lincoln Mustangs play their best game of the year... I think Burns takes them out. I hope I’m wrong! Go Stangs!
3. 2 seed North Lincoln over 15 seed RS Central.
The Hilltoppers are a good team and in my opinion comparable to the log jammed bunch that’s in the middle of the Fork conference. That being said... North should win easily, however, the Hilltoppers will not be intimidated, like the forkers who laid an egg, against North! RS Central plays Shelby, Burns, South Point so North better be ready!.. and I think they will be! I know the “Mighty Cricket” Soorus is ready!
4. 1 seed Mtn. Heritage over 16 seed Bandy’s.
That magical 16 seed from the South Fork! Bandys can play with the Cougars if they show up. If Bandys can hang around and keep the score low by utilizing time consuming drives it could be an interesting game. Both teams are gonna run a lot... but I think Mtn. Heritage’s defense will be the difference!
5. 8 seed Maiden over 9 seed North Surry.
In the 2aa west bracket...North Surry is the 2nd leading passing team and the Boom Devils are 4th. It’s gonna be a shootout! I love it! Sling shot football is my favorite kind of game to watch. I do believe that Maiden is a little better than North Surry but it will be a close game. Close game favors Maiden....cause we had a bunch of ‘em!
6. 7 seed Newton Conover over 10 seed Thomasville.
I’m taking home field advantage as the difference for the Red Devils. This game will be the best one in this area. Two great programs with history going at it! Thomasville is always fundamentally sound and known for defense and good coaching! Newton has to play smart to win this game. I say they can!
