South Davidson Could be a multi-win team once again

Football is a big deal if you travel down to Denton, NC. Though the passion hasn't lead to wins in recent years. South is 4-40 since the 11-12 school year. Monday South will play at home vs West Davidson for a chance to win 2 games before conference starts the 9th. South hasn't been .500 or better since 2003 when they were 6-6, and the best since then has been a 4-8 year. Could it be that South could win Monday and maybe squeeze out 3 or 4 wins this season?

South only has around 30 players. and they also have a JV team this year. so not much depth. Don't know how albemarle looks this year, but i hope they keep up with them!

Eric Tippett is good coach and good man. I'm glad for him, he had a similar situation at East Gaston (had to rebuild from the ground up).

South has 23 players on roster. Why only 14 played I do not know. South is a smaller 1A school, and is treated a little unfairly due to DCS district lines, but none the less seems to be pickking up in the football dept.

South Davidson has a really good chance to beat Albemarle for the first time in school history. Albemarle is setting all types of "Losing" records this year... They have only scored 6 points in games. This will be the best chance South Davidson has to beat them.

Hate is a strong term that I choose not to use in my vocabulary, but I'll answer you question once you make a thread on your why you have "Dislike" for Albemarle I'll answer that open heartily and honest...

No need for another thread... I don't "dislike" Albemarle per say. I dislike the way the school system allowed Coach Gaster to humiliate teams on the field time and time again. I dislike how the fans crowed for years about how great they were and how much of a powerhouse program they had. Yes, they were winning. How it was done was as shady as an oak tree in July. A few of you claim that they never had players from anywhere else but from inside the Albemarle City School district. That my friends is an out and out non-truth. A few have claimed to have pictures of the teams with ALL of the exact same players that were on the team. I don't doubt that. The ones who didn't live in the district were not playing the youth leagues for Albemarle. The way the school and the BOE handled TA McClendon and all of his transgressions while he was a student paved the way for what is happening at the school today. The kid was the most talented high school player I've seen in 50+ years of watching high school football and he was allowed by the system and most of all by the head coach and his staff to do whatever, whenever and however he wanted as long as he showed up on Fridays. See how well that discipline worked out for him?????? The sense of entitlement that still rings true in Albemarle today of the "glory days" is reason enough to harbor the ill will toward the program, not the players or the fans with the exception of a few. Now, I've stated my piece. Let's see you spin your reason without blatantly coming out and telling us how you really feel. You aren't very transparent so if you will, the stage is yours.

I've had family go through South Davidson. It's not that I dont agree with you, because it is true. I also think that going both ways. It was hostile going most other places as well.

Well I like the good folks in Denton. Having coached either a varsity or jv game there about a half dozen times, the ONLY issue I can remember is when someone broke on the j.v. bus and stole cell phones back in 2009 or so. Part of the blame was with players choosing not to leave their phones with the coaches "security bag" that was on the sidelines. The other blame goes to the one or two who went in the emergency exit and pulled the stunt.

Before going, I always heard from adults how bad it would be...that they would bite or use racial slurs...etc. I never witnessed that ....not even once. It doesn't mean it didn't happen when your team was there....

Personally I'd love the opportunity to go to south and try to build something. I consider it the ultimate coaching challenge, and if you do something at south you know you can do things anywhere...
