Robb- Hay var girls at 5 (tie breaker)
Girls final 630

Tables are turned this time and Cherokee will be playing on no rest after a tough game like Hayesville did last week, for that reason I say Hayesville by 12.

Cherokee is playing their best ball of the season. Hayesville probably has more at stake, in terms of how the result could impact their ranking and seed. South Stanly losing was big for Hayesville, but still need to jump Chatham Charter and hold off Starmount for a shot at the 4 seed and three rounds of home court if they take care of business.

Conference tournament has NO effect on seeding for #1 seeds. If they don't win the tournament, they still go with how they finished regular season. If anyone other than the #1 or 2 seed wins the tournament, then that team would get the #2 seed from the conference and everyone else gets bumped down. But Hayesville has already locked in the #4 overall in the west based on MaxPrep rankings no matter what happens.

Not the way I see it.

Conference tournament breaks ties, which is why South Stanly losing was huge for Hayesville since they were in a three way tie for first in YVC but were the only of those three ranked above Hayesville...so now they won’t be part of the pool of 1 seeds, and the team that will should be ranked below Hayesville.

And tournaments can impact where a team falls in the pool of 1s, since I don’t believe MaxPreps are final yet. Hayesville is about a half point behind Chatham Charter and half point ahead of Starmount, both of whom will be seeded as #1s according to MaxPreps rank (somewhere 1-8). Loss probably drops Hayesville behind Starmount. Win and there’s still hope to jump Chatham Charter, who looks like the fourth-highest ranked #1 in the west at the moment. (Behind Lincoln Charter, WSPA, and MICS). Get into the top 4 and that’s another round of home court if you take care of business. Of course, Chatham Charter could go East depending on who makes the field, but they were west last year and HighSchoolOT has them west at the moment.

Also, not really relevant, but since you brought it up, tournament champs are seeded as at large, not in the 2 pool. See Murphy last year.
