The American Legion National Executive Committee approved the American Legion Baseball Committee’s recommendations for sites for the 2019 and 2020 regional tournament sites for the Legion Baseball national tournament.

In addition, the committee voted to allow for realignment as necessary to improve the tournaments. These realignments will be available at a later date.

For the first time, bids could be submitted for just one year if a two-year commitment instead of two years.

The dates for regional tournaments will be Aug. 7-11, 2019, and Aug. 5-9, 2020 in the following locations:

Region 1 – Shrewsbury, Mass.

Region 2 – Asheboro, N.C.

Region 3 – Tampa, Fla.

Region 4 – Hastings, Neb.

Region 5 – Charleston, Ill. (2019 only; bid for 2020 will be selected at a later date)

Region 6 – Sioux Falls, S.D.

Region 7 – Lewiston, Idaho (2019 only; bid for 2020 will be selected at a later date)

Region 8 – Fairfield, Calif.

Hon Dines.....Do you think they don't want SC and NC in the same regional so they can possibly have two teams from NC,SC,VA in Shelby?

In 1980, Wilmington Post 10 played in the Mid-Atlantic. The SE Region was played in Puerto Rico that year and we were told the change was due to travel cost.

talking about controversy, baseball should be 9 innings. no runners for pitcher or catcher , no DH
Nine innings is debatable, I have no problem with runners for Pitchers and Catchers. Certainly speeds up game running for catcher. DH has been a rule for years.

Guess I agree with you...

Big boy baseball should be nine innings. Separates the teams with pitching depth from those without.

Running for pitchers not really necessary. Catchers debatable as well. Have seen many a catcher be the last on field even after being run for. Don't think it always really speeds up game. Coaches are the ones that can do that.

it takes time for the runner for the catcher to run on the field and catcher to run off, some times the catcher make last out , with DH dont need runner for pitcher , need to expand the roster to 25 (mlb limit) and play 9 innings. if roster is expanded might want to expand the enrollment limit , might want to put a limit on the number of pitchers a team can use in a inning. use mlb rule on trips to mount.

all teams in area 3 should play each other 1 league game . wouldnt effect travel because most southern division teams play northern division teams in non league games.
