Simmons playoff projections

Could someone explain the seeding process for a split conference.
Patton is the 2 seed for 3a in our conference but would they be in as a wild card or a 2 seed??
I have heard both and I am really confused.

He also had Havelock destroying us last year. I pay no attention to any of it. Our schedule works against us with his math. When we beat Shelby he'll adjust for what his computer can't actually see. Then we'll just start clubbing teams that get in our way and in his last ratings, he'll have it figured out and tell you how he was right 86% of the time...

heelsfan, they will be seeded as a WC. The NCHSAA has changed some of the rules regarding autobids from split conferences. One is that to be seeded as a 2 seed you must finish as a 2 overall in the whole conference. In the SMAC, Kings Mountain will be the #2 in 3A but will be seeded as a 3 seed because they will finish 3rd overall. Patton will probably finish 4th or 5th, so they go in with all the other wild cards.

They will get the 2nd of the 3A seeds, but it looks like they will finish 4th overall. In the Split conference you have to finish 2nd overall to get seeded with the #2's.....they will be a low wild card, which I think Simmons has them at 16th seed. You can also be seeded with the 3's, IF you finish 3rd overall, like in the case of KM-East Burke this week. I think the 4th place finish overall is why they are where they are.

Hope that helps.

Damn you Sasha :)

The truth! Brian wouldn't bet his pay check on his computer predictions.

You do know Statesville finished 2nd in the npc. Howare they a wild or ranked lower than west rowan who finished 3rd in the spc?

He updated them after last night's games I believe.
Champ, both Statesville and WR finished 3rd in their conference. Not sure what gives WR the nod, though.

1st South Iredell 6-1
1st Mooresville 6-1
2nd Statesville 5-2
2nd Lake Norman 5-2

What are tou talking about?

Statesville overall is 8-3. With 1 non conference loss. So they'll report as 8-2. 2nd in the npc

Here is my reasoning - South Iredell gets a 1 for winning the 3A division. Statesville gets a wildcard because they lost to Lake Norman head-to-head.

Ohhhh the good ole split conference rules. Got it. I just knew they lost to Mooresville & LN, 2 conference games. That's what I was going off of.

Brian, I believe you left out Triton in the 3A They are the No 3 team in their conference.

Statesville gets seeded as a 3rd place team. Mooresville and SI get seeded as conference champs- but beyond that the state seeds teams in split conferences as if it was a split- so statesville gets the third seed from the NPC

Statesville & Lake Norman will be seeded as wildcards because of the split conference. The only way a team can get a 2 seed out of a split conference is to finish in second if the top team is in the same classification.

I would like to call attention to ^ this post. Just remember sitting home at your computer doing math doesn't make one a prognosticator, it make you a mathematician who sometimes makes 86 on a test.

Appreciate Mr. Simmons for giving us insight. Not hating, but he can't factor in what the eye can see. That's just a fact.
