Shelby vs Community School of Davidson

CSD has some really good athletes and there is a reason they are in Round 3 of the playoffs.

#5 is their superstar and one of the better players in all of 2A
Freshman season:
Rushing: 13 - 47, 1 TD
Receiving: 21 - 286, 2 TDs

Sophomore season:
Rushing: 13 - 87, 0 TD
Receiving: 99 - 1,174, 16 TDs

Junior Season (Christian McCaffrey numbers):
Rushing: 183 - 1,195, 20 TDs
Receiving: 95 - 1,012, 12 TDs

Senior Season:
Rushing: 204 - 1,321, 17 TDs
Receiving: 53 - 660, 3 TDs

Appears he started this season at WR (first 7 games) and then switched to the primary RB in Week 8
Last 5 games rushing:
vs Corvian Community: 40 - 260, 1 TD
vs Christ the King: 41 - 204, 1 TD
vs Pine Lake Prep: 31 - 257, 3 TDs
vs Bandys: 22 - 163, 4 TDs
vs Mt. Pleasant: 30 - 233,

Sportsguy, ya'll better strap up! Shelby is a different level than almost all the other 2a teams (on top of that, you have to play at their place!). I know we have some past playoff history with you guys, bottomline CSD is more athletic than most people realize. Good luck Friday. EGFAN
Haha oh we have tape - we know all about them! We think the game is gonna be a lot closer than most think. We like our chances and we certainly aren’t afraid of anyone. We are an extremely physical team. Here’s to a good game and I appreciate the kind words EGFAN.

One key factor, CSD. Plays lots kids both ways, Shelby needs to come out and play smash mouth against them and pound football...with mixes of throws
Wear some these kids out early.
I promise this will be best front 7 there offense has seen.
We cant be committing turnovers.or all those pentlys..

Yup - I think we are the best team Shelby has seen all year as well. We love smash mouth football and welcome the physicality. I think if we can play like we have the last 3 weeks - there will be a lot of surprised Shelby fans. I think it’s a good game either way and looking forward to it.

So u think CSD. Is better then Crest. KM and ACR...?
Dont think so bud....
I was more or less talking about their conference. Obviously those are very strong teams but I think this team could go toe to toe with any of those teams.

Case in point:
Mt Pleasant lost to JM Robinson 36-29 (close).
JM Robinson beat Kings Mountain 41-14. (Not close)
Kings Mountain lost to Shelby 32-16.

Mt Pleasant lost to CSD 30-7.

All this to say: these teams are more evenly matched than people think and it’s gonna be a good game (hopefully!).

This will be a slobber knocker! Does Shelby have lots of speed yes, does our QB run for his life on every play Yes, is our front 7 on defense very good yes, do we commit a lot of stupid plenties yes. CSD will be very tuff, but if Shelby can give Farmer time to throw and CSD has to defend the pass and run then our chances get a whole lot better. I know I'm saying Nostradamus stuff, but you have to play them one at a time, ask Reidsville.

I agree with you.

What do you mean "ask Reidsville". You have two straight years of experience in playing them one at a time. You are correct, we just don't have time to answer, we are getting ready for out top 25 nationally ranked basketball team to start playing. You probably remember them from last year.

Yeah I wouldn't take CSD lightly.

You’re in the wrong thread. Here’s where you need to be, the link below to discuss the Rams getting ready for basketball.

This right here! and who knows we may be joining yall next week.....

I'm no math major (minor) but I do have a major in civil and environmental engineering. Probability is something we take seriously in our field, especially when looking at "likelihood of failure". I say that to say this, the likelihood/Probability that a raffle only school of approx 500 kids pulls two of the "best athletes in the state/absolute studs" is wild. Obviously there are infinite location type factors that go into probability. And while CSD is in a prime location for many things....athletes aren't one of them.

I'm not saying anything is happening behind the scenes...but if it looks like a fish and smells like a fish...then I'd say the probability is the 2am ballot dropping vote counters are a bunch of fish.

All I've ever heard is absolutely denial to the point of tears...So there's 3K kids waiting on their ticket to be called. What are the chances there are stud athletes on that 3k list? Now what are the chances a stud gets chosen? Should be pretty low...but CSD probability is pretty high.

Unless you're the one pulling the tickets to get kids in...absolute denial is futile. You're better of saying, "this is how they say it works but I'm not sure how they do it exactly".

The last thing I want to waste my time on is doing a deep dive into the probabilities but you might coerce me into it. I love finding things out.

As for the game. If you actually sack Shelby's QB you have a chance. We missed about 8 sacks, most on key downs.

That wouldn't have solved our offensive woes, but momentum is a fickle lady and it could have helped. We missed several open recievers over the middle...QB was too pressured to see the open man.

Props to Shelby again. Good luck to both teams.

Go Lions

Ah you must be talking about #5… I don’t know who the other “best player in state” is… but, I guess I’ll help with your “probability” game you want to play and let’s see how this factors into it.

Ok, so TJ Albert started this football program back in 2012 I want to say…TJ Albert has 3 boys that were very young at the time. Well, as it just so happens to go - those boys grow up and when you have a head coach as a dad, you tend to be around the game a lot. Well flash forward to 2024, and wouldn’t you know it, TJ’s oldest son is a Senior and he happens to (in a sweet gesture) wear his Pops old football number. TJ wore #5…

Our stud’s name is Brandon Albert. He is the head coaches son, and a top recruit.

CRAZY how that works I guess….

And boom...an educated explanation. Appreciate it...now that makes sense! That's all I want...are things to make sense.

Note, you only picked the 2nd half of that criticize. I guess what's done is done and you are still playing. I can live with it. Just like ya'll have the last two years. (he he)
