Hey that is true but Richmond Co. is the hunt year after year; while Shelby beats up on the same 16 2A high schools; In the last decade can 2A Shelby say they have played Butler, Independence, West Charlotte, Charlotte Vance, Lake Norman, Greensboro Page, Dudley, East Forsyth, West Forsyth, Jack Britt, 71st, New Bern, Garner, Northern Durham, and Scotland Co; What other school other than Mallard Creek in NC can say that they have played the best programs in the State of N.C. One day the Stars will line up and Mallard Creek and Richmond will bump elbows on the football field. I doubt Shelby has the brass balls to schedule a Mallard Creek, Butler, Richmond, Scotland Co, Charlotte Catholic, Dudley, Page, New Bern, and etc. By the way did I forget to tell you we are scheduled to play the state Champs in the regular season fall of 2017. "We win some and lose some but we play the best year end and year out". Go back to the 2A board before you get put in your place.

This is the 2A board. We were put on the 4A board by Deana after a request by Coach Ware.Then instantly we were attacked by all the jealous 4A posters whose program is no where near ours. Bottom line if any one of those schools you named had 1000 or less students we would beat them like a drum.
They just don't understand. There are lot of uniformed people who post off of emotion instead of solid critical thinking. It's a nationwide epidemic.
Ok, I am on record on saying this. There are some smaller classification teams that can play and even beat a 4A team. I came from a small program and during our "glory years" we could not get the bigger programs on the schedule.
Shelby has the talent to play with anyone in this state. Now, I'm not going to sit here and say that they would win every time, but I can guarantee you would get a better game than some of the others that are on teams' schedule.
Reidsville is another team that can.
The smaller school has everything to gain and the 4A team has everything to lose. It's the main reason most of the games won't happen. Fans would love to see it.

Yes, I post game requests by all coaches. Some specify what teams (class) they want me to post on the appropriate board and some don't so I post on all.
Your exactly right.If people would take time and research what there complaining about they would understand more of what's going on.In this case because Shelby is 2A they can't beat anybody but 2A schools when in the 2016 season we beat 9 3A schools.
To be fair AC Reynolds was the only somewhat signature win that stands out.
I wish you all could play Catholic,Dudley, Kannapolis, or an SC small school next season if you can't play a 4A school. Ideally it would be nice to see a Butler, Vance or Richmond matchup. I'd even be satisfied if you all were able to get that Scotland game since the 4A board said they reached out.
They ain't reached out, you're the one that has all these guys on the board talking about their school reached out, as if they're one of the coaches, or work in their school's front office.

I was only referring to 3A LA...just 3A. Those were signature '2A' wins...well they were unofficially 3A but you know what I mean.
I don't know which team you are talking about. I did paraphrase Scotland today. Months ago? I'm not familiar at all. If you could find the thread to remind me which team you are referring to. I know months ago Mallard Creek camp on this board kept posting that they reached out so I paraphrased them also. Same for last year with MC. Other than paraphrasing those two I don't recall anyone else, but if you can point the thread out to me if it's anything different.
Until a couple of days ago, I've never even been on the 4A board, so I don't know what was said previously, but I have seen you repeatedly in threads post that meme of someone refusing a phone call, saying it was us dodging teams, or implying that we would dodge them, that's what I went by. It's all good, though, it's not that serious. I stand corrected.

We never dodged Byrnes SC when they were killing everyone and we weren't as talented then. So, it's hard to imagine Shelby would duck any team.

True, but from what I was told we played them because our fellow brethren in green and yellow didn't want to in the border showcase. However, it was played in a game setting with all starters playing. Shelby got blowed out the first time and the second time it was close. Should have made it clear it wasn't a regular season game btango.
4A Schools will always be expected to beat a 2A school..but with teams like Reidsville, Shelby, Lincolnton, Monroe and Clinton among others....I think you can throw that equation out the window.....other than 4A NW Guilford....we can't get a 4A school to schedule us....that will change next year when W-S Reynolds is on our schedule (but they haven't been a football power since the late 1950's)................................
What noteable 4A(or even top 15/20 ranked in 4A) wins do those 2A schools have in the last 4 years?
Reidsville or shelby didn't play a top 15-20 4a school this year. I would have loved one of the two to get a crack at one of them.
Thomasville used to beat Davie county when they were a 1a power and Davie was winning the conference. So Shelby could very well compete with or beat good 4a teams. Any given night...
This year as with most Shelby and Reidsville would give most 4a schools all the want. The big difference isn't starters vs starters, but bench vs bench. Most 4a schools are much deeper and fewer players going both ways. Dudley, Scotland and a couple others would be very difficult to beat. Wouldn't be scared to play them. Respect , yes. Fear, no way
Thomasville squeaked by Davie in 2007 and 2008. Davie lost in the first round of the playoffs each season. 2009 Davie won big but failed to make the playoffs. 2010 was the crazy year with Davie losing bad in the title game. They lost five regular season games including a blowout to Thomasville.

Not our's buddy....we've been doing this for 100 years. This decade has already been a success (like the last 6) we can start looking forward to next decade and what we might accomplish in that one.
I find the whole Shelby versus 4a thing silly and boring. The program stands on its own and doesnt need a 4a power for validation.
That said Ware has a whale of a program and I would love to see him stretch a bit. I get they play up and wins over Southpoint and Crest are always gonna be big but as NC football fan i would like to see them step out of their comfort zone. Love to see them play Chapman or Dillon. Maybe a Southpointe or even a Charlotte Christian match up.
Just think it would be fun.

Shelby has played regular season games against 4A teams a few times over the last 30 years.
Series with Watauga from 2007-2010 - Shelby went 4-0, winning by an average of 18.25 pts. Those were "lean" years for Shelby, only making one state championship game appearance (2007 loss to Reidsville) during those 4 years.
Series with North Meck from 2005-2006 - Shelby went 2-0, winning by an average of 12.0 pts. Shelby was 2A state champions both of those season.
Played Crest while Crest was 4A for several seasons - defeated them multiple times
It's really hard to predict how Shelby would fare against top 4A competition year-in/year-out...I can tell you that the last 4 Shelby teams could probably do pretty well. In 2016 alone, Shelby defeated 3A state champions South Point, 24-0, which was one of 6 wins over 3A teams.
Shelby lost in the last quarter to Crest in both 2014 and 2015, seasons in which Crest went 32-0 and won consecutive 3A state championships, destroying Southern Durham 55-21 in 2016 and mauling Havelock 24-3 in 2015. Shelby defeated Crest in 2016.

Thamks HitmanT, the new conference should keep us all more interested. When does the schedule come out? I'm hoping the last regular season game is you know who against you know who.
Yeah, with last year's conference schedule, I disappeared like a Shelby fan from a police line up. Or better yet, like HitmanT in Ware's early years. That new offense will never work!
