Ok lets start this one, Shelby comming off 2 big wins over Freedom, and Ac Reynolds both 3a,and Sp 1-1 a loss to Crest and a come from behind win against Lincolnton.
Can SP D slow down the air attack of Shelby, which so far has around 1000 yrds offense in 2 games, or can Sp D be the 1st to slow Shelby down.
Can Shelby contain Qb of SP?
I think Shelbys rec. Crew will be to much for South Point, i also belive SP cant handle the balance of the run pass of Shelby,I keep hearing how good the D line of SP is,but dont forget this is a experienced O-line of Shelby. ..Shelbys D better then people realize, there just on feild way to much, due to the fast strike Offense.
I hate playing in belmont, parking is bad,and calls seem always for home side..lol....
I think Shelby wins this battle 38-14

This is going to be a tough game ...looking at the all time records Statman puts together the most rushing yardage we have EVER given up in one game , South Point has the top two! 2013 and 2014 well over 400 yards in both games ... We will have to play assignment football dead perfect to slow that down... It could be another score fest like last week and also like our game with them last season... Should be a fun one for the fans to see

I thought last year we would roll the Red Raiders and I was wrong.Very impressive win last week vs Lincolnton and in the Crest game if SP scores and instead of throwing interception who knows after that. Will be a very tough test for the Lions.

It's going to be a long night for South Point's defensive backs and a long night for Shelby's defensive line.

Coach lineberger did a good shutting our run game down two year s ago forcing Shelby to be one dimensional. Our guys dropped some passes and went 3 and out and they wore down our defense. South Point will probably try to play real physical with our receivers to negate some of the speed advantage.

Wish I was heading down to watch how this one turn outs. After seeing both teams play, I just don't think SP will have enough speed on the field to hang with the Lions this year. Last year they had Muse on the field bothways and he was able to come up with some huge plays that allowed SP to keep it close and take the win. I don't think they have that type of athlete on the field for them this year and that will make things a lot tougher when they need to stop and score on the Lions. I think Shelby gets this one by 3 TDs. Good luck to both teams.

If your team is playing a cupcake this week then this is a game to see. Smash mouth versus finesse. Nobody gets more yardage on a dive play than South Point. They pound and pound at you relentlessly. Have a shifty QB who follows the blockers. SP will not throw more than five passes a game and that's never been a secret.

Shelby will throw it all around the field. Pass first team and loaded with speedy receivers. Four wide is tough to stop. Camp out of the backfield is a target as well. Only way to stop this threat is heavy pressure on the quarterback.

This will be the biggest contrasting offensive philosophies you will see in high school football.

if you ever want to see how old school hitting, tackling, and blocking is still done then just drop in on a South Point Red Raider game. The term decleat is still being used.

If Shelby wins this game then go ahead and get the rings ordered. Its a 3-peat. Freedom, AC Reynolds, South Point. There is not a western or eastern 2A team in the state that could go 3-0 with that schedule. Shelby in the open field can't be caught. It will be interesting to see how the young Shelby linebackers handle the continual between the tackles onslaught.

South point on the other hand needs this game to make a statement in little 3A. South Point was picked to finish third in the conference and that is a joke people. They will finish first. Etherton may not be Tyler Bray but he is a brutal kid who lays a slobber knocker on the tackler. Prepare to see a cover two with Shelby having 8 in the box. Could it be enough? Strap that helmet reeeeeal tight Dax.

The Shelby defense does worry me. We have played high quality athletes but we have had a problem wrapping up these athletes. Too man yards after contact allowed. The quarterback for AC did look like Norris Hopper. I don't know if South Point has any athlete that compare to this quarterback. We shall see.

The defense is very young for the Lions, but has a lot of up and coming talent. The lb's were two tenth graders and a freshman.

Serious amount of talent in those three LBs. Sophomore Dax Hollifield is a big kid and will get bigger over the next two more seasons. One of the OLBs did a good job in coverage last week.

Defensive ends will need to stay home better against South Point. All that dashing into the backfield is a big, big problem when you need the defensive end to turn the play back into the heart of the defense.

You'll be able to watch or listen to the Shelby at South Point game this Friday in a variety of ways:
Radio - 1390 AM - WOHS - Shelby, NC
Internet live stream - http://www.ktcbroadcasting.com/shelby.html
Mobile phone app - UStream - at WOHS 1390AM - Shelby Sports

We'll be on the air at 7:00 pm ET

Shelby Coach Lance Ware has exposed the way high school coaches play pass defense. The 8 yards off the ball is basically a gift with Shelby's speed. Stay back get quick out pass and one on one basketball moves straight to the house. Very few teams line up four wide in high school with that quickness.

When Friday night ends Shelby will begin a series of games that will be over at halftime. This team is better than last year's state champion team offensively. Defensively much the same as last year.

It's 10:20pm and still half time in this game with South Point winning 14-7. Multiple 30 minute lightning delays, sprinklers coming on while playing, and Shelby penalties on almost every few plays. Kids are frustrated tonight. Lots of scrapping.

3:00 minutes to play at 11:15pm and its all tied up at 28-28. Going to the wire Preps.

Shelby up 35-28. South Point down to 19 of Shelby with first down and one time out left.

Shelby squeaks one out on the last play of the game. Shelby 35-28 over South Point.

Dunno what they're putting in the water down at SP, but I'll take a truck load of it. Sounds like it was a real game. Hats off to SP.

Well what a sloppy game !!! Penalty every single big play against Shelby several turnovers leading to SP touchdowns

I guess I could say we needed to win a game like that so much adversity every single play.... Down 21-7 and find a way to win I reckon that's what it's about

One possession we had to score three times before the touchdown actually counted .... Touchdown Shelby penalty Shelby , td , penalty .... 1st and 10 40 yard pass, holding Shelby , 1st and 27 30 yard pass penalty Shelby LOL like that all night long

I think you might be saying a little home cooking? Looked a little weird.

No not really we just never looked in synch all night . Big play after big play negated by penalty .... Refs were flag happy but I'm in no way saying we didn't deserve them

LOL!!! Kinda seemed that way a bunch of times ... Oh well it was a big win even after playing so bad in spots ... South Point is always a tough out .. Hard nosed team .... Enjoy watching them play the game hard ...

With that said.... Go Shelby great win

Ill say it! We played refs too....our D looked terrible in 1st half, then settled down in 2nd...SP scores in 2nd came off Shelby turnovers....We had 3 dropped passes that would have been tds....
Sloppy game when u get flag after every play u do something with ball...
Still 3 great wins for Shelby last 3 weeks...

As you know SL I love how the Raiders play. They play hard nose and in your face football. Shelby was definitely frustrated. Let me just say this. If you want to get some calls and not get calls made on you then keep your mouth shut and smile.

Shelby definitely deserved the too many receivers on the line, holding on two pass plays, letting the clock runout deep in SP territory, and two sportsmanship penalties. The punt recovery, no. The holding on td, no.

South Point's physical football changes teams. They can't do the same things they do on other teams and they wear you down physically and mentally. South Point is a top ten 3A and 3AA team. They will be solid in the playoffs.

Super hard-nosed game. South Point is one nasty bunch (in a good way). King the QB is super tough to defend. Defense brings the wood every play.

With all of that said, still have to be impressed that Shelby was able to overcome a 4-0 turnover deficit, an injury to our dual threat RB/WR, a 21-0 points-of-turnovers deficit, having 2 TDs called back by penalty, over 100 yards in penalties, and a 14-pt deficit to a super ball-control Red Raiders team on their home field....and win 35-28.

Man, the Golden Lions have played against some incredible athletes and well-coached teams the last 4 weeks...Neal from Forestview, Emmons from Freedom, Dowdle and Logan from ACR, and King from S Point....and came out 3-0.

Good luck to Freedom, AC Reynolds, and S Point the rest of the way...would love to see all of them go deep into the playoffs.

That one hour lightning delay did neither team any favors. That 2nd quarter was an absolute mess because neither team could get in sync.

All them pentlys called on Shelby over and over kept us from being in sync....
Shelbys D played much better in 2nd half...

I thought SP played a very good game. Defensively they had a good game plan. Actually I expected a higher scoring game from each team.
