I had my concerns during his second year, the Covid shortened season. That was a dysfunctional, undisciplined Shelby team, if we Shelby guys are being honest. In 2019, he inherited an all time great team that required very little coaching. I was skeptical, but that’s what happens when you replace a legendary coach in Lance Ware.
But, seeing his work last season, and hearing his pep talks to the players in videos sold me. His pep talks before the Reidsville and Wallace Rose Hill games were epic. I’m definitely sold on him being the next great coach in Cleveland County and statewide.
That first AC you saw in the video talking to the Safety was Van Eskeridge. I don’t know if he’s back on a full time basis, but that young man is brilliant, and relatable to the players, a passionate Shelby man. He’s a big time addition, And before you even say it, “SWO beat the brakes…. in 04”
