Its down to Shelby and Reidsville basking in the glory of two more titles. As well they should, great teams this year with the best two programs in all of HS football in NC.
SWO loses a LOT to graduation. Most of the lines, one of the greatest performances of a running back in Jordan. QB is gone also, more of a run threat than passing but thats the way it is at SouthWest.
Whats it going to be like next year ?? Anderson will be back as a senior. I look for him to take over the top running spot as well as his defense play. A couple big linemen coming back. Coach Dempsey did a fantastic job fielding a line that could pretty much play with anybody.
As for non-conference games, will be interesting to see who we get lined up. I believe most non-conference contracts are for 2 years and its up. Would like to see Jacksonville, East Duplin, and WRH stay but dont know if they will. Good additions would be JK, Clinton. Would not hurt to drop White Oak.
I look for the Coastal 8 to be about the same. Only game of interest is Richlands...the beat down continues, maybe. If they are going to get up might be the year, sooner or later, its just a matter of time.
You never know who will rise to the top with all the new guys coming up. SWO seems to alway have a real good running game. Will have to get a new kicker also, Barbee did a great job this past year, more notably his punts.
Basketball and wrestling are up now, with baseball in spring. So its off to other things for me until about July 2019. Every one have a great Christmas and get ready for next year, We'll Be Back.
