Anyone have any explanation how Simmons has Reidsville rated so low?

According to Simmons, Reidsville will be big underdogs to High Point Andrews, Northern Guilford, and Northwest Guilford.

I would pretty much bet the farm that Reidsville will rip Andrews and Northern Guilford and give Northwest Guilford all they can handle.

Makes no sense to me.

I'm guessing it has something to do with last years team.

Not sure we will rip Andrews just yet though

Is your farm nice?

All kidding aside, Andrews will be a pretty good team come playoff time but simply working through the kinks of a new coach, new offense, new QB, etc. A lot moving pieces this early in the season to be at our peak. I think we'll be fine. The last few years, Southwest has beat us in the first game and things have worked out pretty well for us making late playoff runs. They always have a game under their belt coming in because we have a bye in week 1, they have good size, a few D1 kids at skill positions, etc. I think Reidsville has a clear edge in our matchup in a few weeks. Andrews demolished Reidsville last year in a game in which everything snowballed against Reidsville. Reidsville wasn't as bad as they showed and definitely didn't play to their potential the better part of last year, not just against Andrews. It looks like the Rams are now on the same page and playing well, ranked #3 in the state. They haven't exactly played world beaters but they've best those teams soundly, as they should which is a good sign early in the season.

For what it's worth, the Simmons ratings are really good the last half of the year, but wouldn't put too much emphasis on them the first 5-6 weeks as a large portion of the early rankings reflect last years success. It's also hard to quantify a hand full of teams each year that play teams without a pulse in the non conference. Come week 8, you usually have a good indication of who's legit and who's not.

Also, Andrews throttled Northern in a scrimmage (yes it's a scrimmage I know), but Northern doesn't have the athletes they had under Roscoe and co. Those kids have went back to their home school lol. You guys should roll them pretty good, something in the 35-7 range, likely a shut out.

Its very, very nice.

All kidding aside, I'm looking forward to visiting High Point in a couple of weeks. Last year Andrews beat the Rams about as thorough as anyone in recent memory, excluding the Shelby game a couple years back when the Rams were so beat up they had to play freshmen that had never played a varsity game.

Usually it takes a year or so to install a new offense with new coaches so I expect Andrews to show much improvement in the second half of this year.

A few Andrews fans may remember Coach John Morris.
He was a very good friend and, of course, a former Rams coach that finished his great career at High Point Andrews. He loved playing at Simeon Stadium.

A bad conference, severely down NG, and an Andrews that no one new would be breaking in new coaches and a system when scheduled. Looks like NW will be the true indicator and that doesn't really have to be a win to signal they are a team to watch. You can't do anything about any of those. Just play the games and don't hold back.

I think Andrews is an indicator too. Think they could be at least a 3rd round team in the playoffs. Still early in the season though.

The Andrews the first half of the year will be much different than the Andrews you see later in the year. The pieces are there.

I expect Reidsville to win in a few weeks though. Too many changes to beat a team like the Rams this early.

I'll never forget, after our 2 fumbles and then the Green kid kicked the field goal for the rams to go up by 3 late in the first quarter, I thought it was out of reach for Shelby, maybe next year. Guess some nights it just comes down to who has the most heart.
Or who has the most talent.

Reidsville is the real deal....I've seen it in real time...if they lack in any area (which isn't much) is they don't have that flat out burner but, they are more balanced than I've ever seen them. Stop power and counter and they'll throw a 40 yard pass because you've loaded the box. I haven't seen that since Crews was their QB...
