I read a forum a few months ago that Reidsville could drop to 1AA during the next realignment has anyone else read or heard anything like this?

I'd be surprised if Reidsville drops down unless the 20/30/30/20 realignment is replaced with a 25/25/25/25 realignment that adds the non-football schools to the realignment after the football teams are realigned. Before the 20/30/30/20 realignment all teams were aligned in a 25/25/25/25 realignment that included the non-football teams in that realignment. That's why 1A always had about 75 schools and 2A/3A/4A had roughly 100 schools.

RMS is sending up some large classes the next two years. RHS will remain 2A
Realignment will be based on 2019 ADM.

So only this years entering eight grade class will be counted towards the realignment less this years senior class.

Reidsville will be either one of the smallest 2A schools or one of the largest 1AA schools.

Forgive me if this seems like nitpicking but there is NO SUCH THING as the 1AA "classification" at realignment.....the classifications are 1A, 2A, 3A, 4A, and set for four year cycles....then in football only, the playoffs are subdivided every year based on that year's numbers, then you get the 8 subdivisions with each class split in half.......to answer your question though, if Reidsville drops to the 1A classification, odds are that yes, they would be in the 1AA subdivision for the football playoffs, at least for the first year or two, probably longer, depending on future enrollment numbers....ANY school is a couple of small freshmen classes away...OR...a couple of huge freshmen classes away from going up or down a classification in a 4 year realignment cycle...also remember a team could have been AA the year before (in any class), have an increase in ADM, and still drop to A level...or been small A last year, have a lower ADM this year, and still go big....which subdivision you fall into is based on #1, which 64 or 48 (1A & 4A) teams qualify for the playoffs, then #2, splitting all playoff qualifiers in a class into the two subdivisions A & AA...unless your numbers are really, really high (like North Davidson) or really, really low, you never know which subdivision you'll go into...that's part of why I haven't posted any projections for this year's playoffs yet because we don't have this year's ADM numbers yet, and i wouldn't be surprised if a lot of teams swap from 2A to 2AA and vice versa....if there's talk that Reidsville could drop to 1A in three years, then I would presume there is a good chance they will be small 2A this year, which would most likely put them in the West bracket again, but then again, not necessarily...have to wait a few more weeks and see which 64 teams in the 2A classification qualify for the playoffs and see what this year's numbers look like

I think everyone knows about the four classes. The big kicker is whether the realignment will be 25/25/25/25 or something different.

Point is Reidsville will most likely be near the cutoff between 1A and 2A. Even though there is a large eighth grade class this year at Reidsville Middle School, the private school in Bethany is chipping away at all the public schools in Rockingham County. That school is projected to have about 500 high school students when all the classes are filled.

Many do not understand that the next realignment will be based on the 2019 ADM numbers.

TGT had a great idea about how to seed teams for the playoffs. Maybe he could update his ideas.

My idea had something about having no predetermined classes in conferences which were based mainly on geography. Then at playoff time, you pick the 256 or so teams and divide them by the current enrollment, not the numbers from the realignment which would be 5 years old by the final year.
I'll see if I have my full plan in my files somewhere. Seems like Simmons also had a similar plan.

I think everyone knows about the four classes.
Many do, but it never fails....almost every year, on every message board...it's July or August and somebody starts a thread about, "Who are the top 2AA teams this year?" and I roll my eyes and want to scream, with my teeth gnashed, "WE. DON'T. KNOW. WHO'S. GOING. TO BE. 2AA OR SMALL 2A YET."

OK. I'll make that "everyone SHOULD KNOW about the four classes".:(
