Couple of great games in Cougarland last night. Unfortunately for the home crowd, SW came away on the losing end of both.

Early on, it looked like business as usual for the Randleman ladies. Behind the play of their dynamic duo, Elizabeth York and Gracyn Hall, they jumped out to a fairly big first quarter lead.

In the second quarter, however, Hall picked up her second foul and sat for a bit. The Cougars took full advantage. Carley Everhart and Kassidy Glasgow sparked a big run and SW came back to tie it.

In the second half, the game stayed tight and SW even took the lead for a split second. The Cougars were playing great defense and were hitting the boards hard. However, as the fourth quarter came around, SW started to go cold and Randleman made some big plays. Tigers won 47-39.

Despite the loss, I was very impressed with SW's performance. Actually made the Tigers look "mortal" at times. I hope there's a third meeting down the pike.

In the boys game, Randleman snatched victory from the jaws of defeat (or did SWR snatch defeat from the jaws of victory?....). Hunter Adkins stole a pass at midcourt and went the distance for the game-winning bucket. Then, Dylan Wheatley stole a pass at the very end of the game to seal it. Randleman's defense in the final minute was just flat outstanding.

Game was toe-to-toe for most of the way. The Tigers got nice performances out of Greg Price, Wheatley, and Baylor Petty. These three did some damage from beyond the arc. For the Cougars, Sean Adkins and Landon Williamson had good games. Williamson did a great job of finishing around the basket. He was a fairly tough matchup for Randleman.

Williamson also had the block of the year. Towards the end of the first half, he took a shot and volleyball spiked it about 15 feet into the hands of a police officer. I also might have seen the rebound of the year courtesy of Tiger Lucas Gneiting. Gneiting has a tendency to grab huge rebounds at critical times. On this one, he flat put the capital "C" in "Crashing the boards". He looked like one of those rugby players hoisted up to get the ball.

Final was 51-48.

I also want to add that Elizabeth York has quickly become one of my favorite players to watch. I love her game. I also like that she looks like she's having fun. It seems like so many players have a super serious demeanor these days.

I also want to add that I detest, absolutely detest, the "warm-up hoodie". Putting a hood on a short-sleeved shirt makes about as much sense as putting a cat on a leash.
