If NC didn't play in the fall and played in the spring ( I know that has been knocked down but if the members want it then it could happen) could a kid play for a private school in or out of state and then transfer back and play in the spring for the public school? Sounds crazy but we are living in crazy times. I would assume they could but I don't know!

They cannot. The bylaws have a provision where you can't play a sport in one state and then transfer to NC and play an additional season. This has been the case with girls soccer which I believe is played in a different season in other states. Softball would also be the case since it is played in GA in the fall but played in the spring here. This rule has been in place for a while.
