Because they all cared about their playing time as a freshman or sophomore more than learning from a group of girls that were already there. They forgot why all of them grew up playing travel ball in the Avery county system to begin with. That was to join forces and do something special that had never been done in Avery county history go to state. Sure the jv coach for avery was tough, but as a good former Avery player herself, she was setting those girls up for success. Just like mh's coach Shelton did this year. You have to buy into the system you grew up playing in, and those 3 girls did not. So that left Avery with no depth, and empty handed. Franklin lives at south end of avery county, she did not abandon her school and teammates. She earned her playing time as a freshman. It would have been no different for the other 3. So if they are ranked 2nd without those girls, and Mitchell is 10th with those girls. All they needed was depth, that's it. But that playing time will never replace what they could have gotten. Why did so many players leave Avery?
