The Maxpreps rankings matter because teams that finish with identical records and didn't face each other during the regular season will get their playoff seeding based on these rankings. No more coin flips. Every team wants the highest seed possible.

Seeding only matters in terms of home field. East 4aa champ won the semi and regional final on the road. 4aa West champ won 3 straight on the road and the regional final has been won on the road in the West the last two years.

If your team was offered the number one seed, would you take it? Or would you say it doesn't matter....pass...seed us wherever? If you would take the number 1 seed or the higher seed when you finish with the exact same record then the Maxpreps Rankings Matter. Hey, maybe I will start the MRM Movement!
