Pisgah going back to 2A in 2017,Tuscola will remain 3A

I really think the Henderson county schools will fight the proposal if they are in with the Buncombe County schools. I don't know where they could go though.

For Mitchell and Avery they could possibly join the Mountain Valley, but they already have 8 Teams in a split conference. With Polk 1A i think they could either go to the the Southern Peidmont or the Smokey Mountain. That being if the go with the 9 team 2A conference.

Polk was in the SMC back in the 90's.

Did not know that. Maybe they will take Avery Mitchell and Polk, combine them with Rosman and Thomas Jefferson or something and make another 1 A Conference? IDK just throwing ideas out there.

Would love to see Polk back in the SMC, it would be a great addition to the league.

Of course that would make for a lot of travel for the Wolverines but not much worse than the travel Rosman has to do playing in the league.

Mitchell & Avery fought the Mountain Valley idea the last time it was brought up, don't figure that will change. They do not want to head in that direction. Polk and Rosman are always an outlier in these deals and anywhere they go is going to be problems for some school. Poor McDowell becomes the only 4A school in the west.

Before all the numbers came out, Tuscola was also projected to be 2A with the new percentile breakdown which I always found odd.
There will be all sorts of political manuevering between now and next year so I wouldn't look to hard at all these projections. A 9 team conference is a bit unwieldy. That leaves you 3 non-conference games, one of which would have to be Pisgah, so I don't think it will happen.

It is a bit weird to drive through Buncombe Co. and never play a conference opponent and I really don't relish traveling on I-26 anymore. It puts us having to play Asheville and Reynolds again and I hold no illusions about what kind of athletes we have vs. them We can compete with everyone else, generally. Roberson may come on strong again and pose another problem.

This is also going to require moving the Pisgah game to too early in the season if they are not in the same conference. The second week of the season, as it was done back when Pisgah was in the 2A WAC is just too early to play that game.

I bet the early college and Central Haywood are full with the students from Canton that are now attending. Pisgah had 8 more students than Tuscola less than 3 years ago, and now Tuscola has 49 more students. It would be interesting to know what is behind the numbers changing that much.

It's simple. Pisgah graduated the their largest Senior class last year and had their smallest Freshman class this year. Tuscola just brought in their largest Freshman class ever. Timing played a big role not movement of students. If moving kids was the case then Pisgah would have never been 3a last realignment. Just facts you've got to face.
