Are we close enough to the start of the season to get some input from PHS faithful regarding the upcoming season? How will the Black Bears look this year? Fairly decent "covid year" this past spring I think. JV squad were stud filled last year and word is they will be even more dominant this year on that level. But there are some holes to fill on Varsity IMHO, which is what really matters. A one loss JV season this spring is fine and well, but that that doesn't always translate to the same outcome the following Varsity year.

We lost a few greats in #'s 3, 4, 5, 11 and 35 to name a few skilled position players who graduated. Then a several hogs that were studs that graduated as well to include #69 and #99 just to name a few. Several others that played A+ ball on the line last year that graduated....What does our future look like fellas?? I did stop by 7 on 7 and counted about 75 kids between both JV and Varsity, and not one lineman with the exception of a center or two since the line do not compete in such an event, having their own challenges in the preseason. If PHS has anywhere near those numbers up front then we will be in great shape this year on the numbers side of things!! But again, you can only put 11 on the field at a time. Which still leaves me wondering on not the quantity but the quality of these young men?

On the flip side of the county...what's things looking like for CB and his band of Merry Mounties?? Open for discussion to all...God Bless all the NCpreps fam and I hope everyone is healthy and looking forward to the upcoming season as much as I am!! Cheers 🍻

Well shoot!! It almost feels like P and T both have fallen off this site all together for some odd reason? Maybe there has been a big drop off for everyone, with regards to their fan base and supporting community?? You're right though brother....not really going to garner a ton of action apparently.

I didn't go but heard Robbinsville beat Tuscola 24-06 Thursday in 7v7. North Buncombe was also involved but I didn't here about them.
Score could be misleading though.

75 not counting linemen is pretty dog gone good
I thought so too brother. Thing is that was both Jv and V also..being the time of year and all, there could be several quit between now and Game 1 but either way I was just shocked to see how many skilled players from 9-12!!

Let's all play a game.

Which will happen in Waynesville this year?

A. Multiple players will transfer to private schools before first game.
B. We will run the same formation all year with zero adjustments. (See last year)
C. Defensive coordinator will make zero adjustments. (See last year)
D. QB will need to exume Manute Bol for a receiver to complete a forward pass.
E. Pisgah will beat Tuscola by two touchdowns.
F. All of the above.

I have no idea who you think I am .I live in Canton no way I would walk to Waynesville. .If Tuscola is not playing the scrimmiage away I thought I would check them out .Not like it will be a secret how they look.

A friend of mine said Pisgah is scrimmaging chase and one other team I can’t remember. Is that right and I assume it’s away? On the 13 th?

I feel the defense was not the problem at THS this spring. Hell they held ACR to 13, Asheville to two scores, PISGAH to two scores wasnt it? It was the offense that needed help. They need a reliable running back badly. Two woulldnt hurt.

Checked out the Mounties scrimmage yesterday with Cherokee and Madison. Robbinsville didn't show ,was told they had Covid restrictions.Tuscola QB looked good ,couple of good running backs.Cherokees big line stood their ground against Tuscola, even had a pretty good fight during their game. Also had a ref get runover and carried off the field. Thought Madison QB did a good job ,they may win a game this year. All in all good scrimmage for all three.

I heard the same, not sure though. Robbinsville needed that scrimmage even though I think sit would've been lopsided in our favor it would've still be better that playing Asheville without any game time.

Fairly even competition from what I could tell. I think Pisgah made some key drops for sure. Small mistakes but this is why we scrimmage right!! Definite bright spot coming out of Canton thus far was their JV team!! Pretty dominating performance against all 3 clubs and was able to get most 2s and 3s in the scrimmage as well. The future is bright for the next 3 or 4 years I feel certain! Freshman QB1 may be pulled up before the halfway mark if he continues to progress and play the position with such maturity! 3 or 4 on that team that could help on Friday nights early on for sure! Black Bears will be just fine this season regardless and are still hard nosed as ever! Love this time of year! Especially loved the Coaches speech immediately following the little scrap that ensued!
