Is that the mill that smells so bad? Sometimes you can smell waynesville in jackson co

How’s Pisgah looking this year?

Can’t wait for my Greeneville Devils to play the bears again! We went 15-0 last year with a state title and are looking to repeat again!

We currently have 4 D1 commits already!!!

We should have our best team in several seasons. We will learn a lot in our opening game against Murphy.

Greeneville should have one of their best teams ever honestly. That had a scrimmage last Friday against a top 10 3a team.
Starters on Offense scored 4 tds on 17 plays
1 Field Goal, 2 pick 6’s and another Int

We know that they will be a big test for the bears.Hope we are undefeated when they come to town.Look for a packed stadium not only of Pisgah fans but should be a lot of WNC high school fans show up. Do your fans show up at away games like ours did last year?

Greenville will probably be the biggest challenge we will face all year. IMO our team has improved quite well since last season with some outstanding talent both experienced and new. Several changes have taken place since we visited the Green Devils last year. Two things I can guarantee you; (1).Y'all have to come to us this year and our home crowd can probably out number yours. (2). I know it's a very rare occurrence for Greenville and I respect that greatly, but if y'all just so happen to have an "off" night, it will be a long ride back to Greenville Tennessee.
I was very impressed w/Greenville last year but I love my Bear's and I will be in the majority this year.

Greeneville fans always travel well but I don’t see this being much s game. Last year we had some starters out which hurt the team a little. Greeneville takes the win in Pisgah guys!

You're the same guy that gave 35 points last year , claimed they would have a mercy rule. You were wrong on both. Did you ever pay that guy the forty bucks?

You guys need to come down to charlotte, you will see real speed.

No doubt. Instead of beating a 2A come to Charlotte and play someone your own size, and get your a$$es handed to you. 35 points my bleep.4A school mouthing off to a 2A school.

Just an FYI: Greenville is actually the smaller school in this match up, their classifications are different. Pisgah (2A in NC) has over 1000 students, Greenville (4A in TN) has about 850 students. Hence, this is actually a case of a smaller school mouthing off at a bigger school and if Greenville were in NC they would also be a 2A school.

Tennessee high school sports classifications:
  • Class 6A. (Enrollments from 1,509 and greater) ...
  • Class 5A. (Enrollments from 1,103-1,508) ...
  • Class 4A. (Enrollments from 822-1,102) ...
  • Class 3A. (Enrollments from 557-821) ...
  • Class 2A. (Enrollments from 376-556) ...
  • Class 1A.

Serious question. Why do teams like Pisgah and Tuscola never come off the mountain and play someone like Shelby or someone in the area around charlotte

Over the years we have played Shelby several times in the playoffs. The 2006 games was one of the best high school games I have ever seen.We only beat them once but most games over the years were close good games.

I remember that game in 2006, great game. In all seriousness I think it would benefit y'all a lot more come playoff time to schedule teams down this way in non conference rather than the mountain teams

I agree but I don't make the schedule.

Correct me if I’m wrong, but can’t any kid from Greene county play at Greeneville, as long as they pay the difference in tuition taxes? I noticed the other four high schools in the county are less then mediocre, so I’m guessing you all get the best of the county.

I'm the wrong guy to ask about that, I live in NC. I used to go watch some games around east Tennessee with friends and remembered that pretty much all of their classifications/schools were different than NC. Never actually saw Greene County play.

I would have to say $ and cents would be the reason. Travel just gets more costly, and they have such big turnouts for the games they have now, i would guess it would cost them in the end. At least if pisgah came to shelby,, now if the other way around i would guess canton would be packed.

I agree but I don't make the schedule.

I'll be in Boone Next weekend we move our daughter in at App State on friday the 17th. I've always wanted to see a Pisgah game but I'm not sure I'll be able to make the Murphy game. I see it's a 2 hour drive according to google maps. How big will the crowd be?? Will they fly the mascot in on a helicopter?

Should have a big crowd at least from Canton. The stadium seats 12,000 so you can get a seat. Don't believe the helicopter will show up.Should be a good game.

I just don't think I can make it but if things work out that I can I will. Do you know if there are any other decent games closer to Boone?

The Tuscola game is in Canton this year on August 31st! That’s the one you need to attend. We are hoping the 50/50 winner this year will take home close to $25k:D:)

Sorry most of the good games this year are played in Canton or farther south or west. Our schedule is in the thread at the top of the 2A forum

Yea that game is on my bucket list. Going to be tough going back to the Mountains in just 2 weeks but I'll have to see if I can swing it. The wife will be easier to talk into it because our baby will be in Boone just 2 hours away! lol
