The Bears and Cougars will play at Canton on Thursday Sept-1 a TV game. This is a first for the Bears ,Asheville played North Buncombe last year on TV

Our football program should be on probation after that disgraceful team last year.

The 2015 Asheville football seniors shouldn't be allowed to come to any of next years games because their presence could lead us to be horrible again.

Im pretty sure my 2014 and 2015 Burns Bulldogs would've loved to trade places with you. I know expectations should be high, but 9-3 is still a good season. Weddington almost knocked out Crest. As for the Bulldogs, we have an alum coming home to be the head coach that is the perfect fit IMO, the future is bright. But the past 2 years we had to deal with a difficult coaching change in 2014 which resulted in transfers, and suffered a number of major injuries. We went a combined 7-13 but you know what? I didn't miss a game. It's all about the kids. And these are just teenagers playing the game they love. This isn't the NFL.

Im sure they feel the same about you as a fan. All kids do well if they can. So it was an off year . Support the kids in the hopes 2016 will be better .
Lol if the players don't give a crap why should the fans? I guess you think everybody should get a trophy and the guys who "liked" your comment do too. We sucked last year, period. It's as simple as that. I hope we will be better next year and I will support them as this is a new team.

Murphy scrimmages AHS in early August what can they expect? We should have a quality 1A team just wondering how we might stack up.

unless you have a lot of speed and decent size asheville will roll on most 1a teams. thats no disrespect to murphy. you guys have a great program out there . just hard for schools your size to compete with schools like asheville

I believe it will be an hour an 15 minute scrimmage. It will be a good test for Murphy. A good quality opponent in a scrimmage will be beneficial for them. They have decent size and some fast younger kids. They will probably come out on the short end of the stick but it'll help them later on I imagine.

AHS is in the spread this year for the first year. After being 95% run first team for the last 20+ years, look for them to be shaky early in the season learning the new O

I'm looking forward to seeing the new offense. It had gotten to the point the last few years where you could literally hear the other teams coaches screaming the play that was coming before the ball was snapped. As for the scrimmage with Murphy, it will benefit both teams.
Brewer will be ashevilles best skill guy and Andrew leota will be starting his 26th game at d end and is a rising junior. He could be more highly recruited than his brother by 2017.

It will take a while for the kids to buy in, but once they do, the spread, with all those athletes is going to be a thing to watch.... Took us at Shelby a couple years to finally get it to gel, but when it did, its been something to see...

Good luck to the Cougs...

Yeah it was crazy seeing Shelby go from regularly competing for state titles to regularly competing for state titles.

I think it might take a while for the Asheville players to learn the new offense, but I don't think it will take long at all for them to buy into the spread concept. Since 2000 I bet the fullback and tailback have been responsible for 75% of Ashevilles offense. For the first time in a decade plus, the wide receivers and tight ends will be more than jersey numbers running the place in and out of the huddles. Unfortunately our roster isn't as talented as it was last year either

Well they did have an 8-6 record at one point...

Don't get me wrong I love an offense that wins titles. If Shelby wants to go 5 wide spread or pure single wing it is fine with me if they are winning and it gets the most out of their personnel.
