I wanted to look at the Champions we have had in the past 4 years of "combined" championships and where they'll be looking forward. The West took 12 Championships while the East won 4:

In 2A we had 4 different champions and 4 different runner ups, Reidsville being the only school making 2 appearances:
Monroe

East Duplin
Shelby

4A saw 3 champions and 4 runner ups:

3A saw 4 different champions and 3 runner ups. 71st being the only school making 2 appearances:

Hickory
East Lincoln
Dudley

1A saw 2 champions and 3 runner ups. Mt Airy made 2 appearances and Tarboro being in all 4 championship games:

Now that we have 8 classifications...which class will have a possibility of seeing new faces in the championship game?
8A = 3A Champion - West Charlotte; 4A Runner Ups - Rolesville, Hoggard, Chambers
7A = 4A Champions - Grimsley x2, Weddington; 4A Runner Up - New Bern
6A = 4A Champion - Cardinal Gibbons; 3A Champion - Dudley; 3A Runner Ups - 71st x2, Northern Nash, JH Rose
5A = 3A Champions - Hickory, East Lincoln; 2A Champion - Monroe
4A = 2A Champions - Reidsville, East Duplin; 2A Runner Ups - Clinton, Reidsville
3A = 2A Champion - Shelby; 1A Champion - Mt Airy x2; 2A Runner Ups - Northeastern, WRH
2A = 1A Champion - Tarboro x2; 1A Runner Ups - Corvian Community, Tarboro x2, Mitchell
1A = No Appeareances

8A, 7A, 6A, 3A, 2A could possibly see no new teams in the state championship
5A will have an all new eastern team in the state championship
4A will have an all new western team in the state championship (assuming Reidsville goes East)
1A will have all new eastern/western teams in the state championship

It's the A/AA with a different face. You might start to see these "dynasty" repeat champions again, especially lower classes.
