It looks like Woodruff likes to jump around to different schools, he left NWG to coach at one school, and now this year he is at a different school and hes coached at 7 different schools in 3 different states.... Part of the blame can be placed on him for jumping ship while things were looking up. The other part of the blame should be placed on the AD.. at the time he hired a very young coach with little HCing experience that was fueled on weakening a rival.. Also, if it was between him and someone who was retired.. yikes.
But ask yourself, Was the job done? Are we content with just winning some conference championships and beating some schools with more football tradition than us while they are on a down year? If the answer if yes, then i feel sorry for you. But, that seems to be the case. The difference between East and West Forsyths runs and NWG is their coaches stayed and actually made a run, while yours ran off... blame woody for that. In 2012, Page was rebuilding after the state title and had a down year compared to the 2 years prior.. as for Richmond that year well 4 losses for them at the time was really a down year. The mark of success is.. to be the best, you have to beat the best, NWG didn't do it that year, and really never has. Good job you won a conference title..........
With regards to changing the offense and the asst coaching changes and what not, a young coach is going to have somewhat of a bumpy road especially at a school like NWG (that, clearly, has little backbone). It sounds like he was doing what he thought was right at the time, everyone knows that the wing-t doesn't really work on the 4aa championship level. Maybe he made a few mistakes with regards to some of the asst. changes, but hey guess what, no one is perfect. Place blame on the AD and boosters for letting some of these perceived bumps happen. Rolfes made some changes, and it didn't pay off, is that Rolfes fault? not really, you learn from the experience and move on. I'm willing to bet you those things don't happen at Page.
With regards to Rolfes and whats going on at Page right now. The offense isn't bad... when you have 2 starters in the backfield that played JVs last year, you are going to take some lumps early, when you add onto the fact that they did have to get acclimated to a new offense..
his offense didn't take off at NW because its all about personnel, if you have just 1 or 2 standout players, then you will get exposed.. and that is with any coach and any offense. But, when you get into an environment like Page has, where you have a 7-8 guys who can get it done on offense, things change for a coach. Rolfes has even shown flexibility where he let one of the other coaches make the play calls when things weren't going well on offense.
if the Page job doesnt open up, Rolfes is still at NWG and you guys are still supporting him.. but once hes gone, all of a sudden hes the devil, i'm not buying it.. just another case of sour grapes.
Bottom line, yall dont like him, and we do.. and we sure as heck aren't going to make any judgement on what he did at NWG.....
